Air Date: February 12, 2013
Show Description:
Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic for 34 years. He began reading the Bible and recognized that the plan of salvation that he had been taught was diametrically opposed to that found in the Bible. He had to decide whether he was willing to stake his eternal destiny upon the teachings and traditions of his religion or on Christ and His word. God granted Mike the ability to believe the gift of faith, granted him repentance and from that point on he no longer trusted in what he was doing to save himself but put all his trust and hope in Jesus Christ. Eventually Mike left the corporate world and is now the founder and director of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministry.Yesterday mainstream media outlets began reporting that the current Roman Catholic Pope, Pope Benedict XVI, would be retiring at the end of this month, something that hasn’t been done in nearly 600 years. Mike noted that Pope Benedict has been an embattled Pope and that this, along with his deteriorating health, may be why he has chosen to step down.
Mike comments on numerous aspects of this decision including: The cardinals that meet in a secret conclave to chose the new Pope; the geographic shift of the Roman Catholic population around the world; the leading candidates to become the new Pope; why Matthew 16:18 does not reveal the Apostle Peter as the first Pope; manmade unity vs. biblical unity and more. » More Information
