Guest: » Michael Maloof, WND

Air Date: April 4, 2013

Show Description:
Michael Maloof is a staff writer for WND and the G2 Bulletin. He is a former senior security policy analyst in the office of the Secretary of Defense. He has almost 30 years of federal service in the U.S. Defense Department and as a specialized trainer for border guards and Special Forces. He is the author of the book, "A Nation Forsaken: EMP: The Escalating Threat of An American Catastrophe."

Vic reported that North Korea has authorized plans for nuclear strikes on targets in the United States with other reports naming locations such as Washington, D.C., Austin, Texas, and Los Angeles. Michael noted that following the last underground nuclear test in February, it was only then that Kim Jong Un mentioned the possibility of a preemptive nuclear strike on America. This may mean that North Korea has established a breakthrough in terms of miniaturization that would allow them to place a nuclear warhead on one of their missiles.

In December, North Korea successfully launched a satellite. A satellite could be used to de-orbit a nuclear weapon. Such a weapon could create a high altitude nuclear explosion that would send out an electromagnetic pulse and thereby decimate our electrical grid.

Michael outlined the factors that have led to North Korea’s war related rhetoric. (1) The imposing of U.N. sanctions for their missile and nuclear testing. (2) New leadership in North Korea. (3) The annual U.S./South Korean joint military exercises.

What has been the response from Russia and China? They are perplexed with Kim Jong Un. He noted that China in particular is concerned because hostilities would force refugees to head over the border to China creating a humanitarian crisis.

A couple of American politicians have suggested a preemptive strike on North Korea. The problem with this suggestion is that we have to prove that there's an imminent threat so that we don't respond to a bogus deception that's really no threat at all.
