DARRELL ISSA: JAY CARNEY’S JUST A ‘PAID LIAR,’ IRS TARGETING LIKELY CAME ‘RIGHT OUT OF WASHINGTON’

“Were Getting To Prove It”

Madeleine Morgenstern, TheBlaze — Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Sunday dismissed White House press secretary Jay Carney as a “paid liar,” and said the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups likely came directly from Washington.

“The administration is still — their paid liar, their spokesperson, picture behind — he’s still making up things about what happens and calling this local rogue,” the House Oversight Committee chairman said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “The reason that [IRS administrator] Lois Lerner tried to take the Fifth [Amendment] isn’t because there’s a rogue in Cincinnati, it’s because this is a problem that was coordinated, in all likelihood, right out of Washington headquarters and we’re getting to proving it.”

The IRS said last month that two “rogue” employees out of Cincinnati were responsible for the extra scrutiny given to conservative organizations applying for tax-exempt status.

The House committee gave CNN partial transcripts of congressional interviews with two employees out of the tax-exempt division. One of the employees said they were told the order to single out conservative groups came from Washington headquarters.

CNN host Candy Crowley said Issa still doesn’t have a definitive, direct link to Washington.

“The president’s spokesman, spokesperson, is saying whatever’s convenient at the time and the story changes,” Issa said. “What we have are people…saying under penalty of crimes that certain things are true. We have subpoenaed documents that would support that that they say emails went back and forth.”

He continued, “The administration is so far not providing those documents. As we get those documents, as we will get Fast and Furious documents eventually and so on, we will learn the whole truth.” » Full Article
