Show Description:

Recent years have seen an explosion of independent ministries claiming apostolic and prophetic offices. These new apostles and prophets are claiming the Church must come under their authority and direction in order to fulfill her end-time purpose. New doctrines and practices are being introduced into the Church at an alarming rate. Reverend Gibson has examined the claims and doctrines of the new apostles and prophets in the light of Biblical revelation and offers a response for the discerning Christian.
Although individuals whose ministries may lay claim to apostolic and prophetic offices may also believe that they speak for God, what responsibility does Scripture place upon them for holding that view? Reverend Gibson pointed out that in Deuteronomy 18 we see that in order for someone to claim they speak for God, their words must come true. In Deuteronomy 13 we see that even if the words of the self-proclaimed prophet do come true, if that individual leads you to follow a deity other than the God of Scripture, then God has allowed that person’s words to come true to test you to see if your heart is truly his.
Discussion regarding this topic moves to areas such as those drawn to esoteric experiences, the Seven Mountains Mandate, as well as individuals heading up the contemporary apostles/prophetic movement such as Todd Bentley, Rick Joyner, Mike Bickle and C. Peter Wagner.
