Last Friday the U.S. House of Representatives voted 230-189 on the continuing resolution to continue funding the federal government but not to fund Obamacare.
Chris noted that ordinarily to get anything passed in the Senate, you need 60 votes. This means that during the Obamacare debate in 2009 all amendments to place something in or take something out of Obamacare required 60 votes. Harry Reid, however, wants the option to be able to remove language that would defund Obamacare out of the budget and spending bill with only 51 votes. So now there's been indications that Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah might filibuster the resolution because they see Reid's strategy as procedural trickery.
Who are the 'navigators' that are part of Obamacare? Is Obamacare subject to scams? What is a government 'shutdown' and is this something to fear more than the implementation of Obamacare? You decide and then let your senators know how you feel after reviewing this important edition of Crosstalk.
