Jennifer Burke, TPNN Online Editor — The realities of ObamaCare are beginning to set in for even the most radical Obama supporters. On the Daily Kos, a far left, progressive site that exists to influence the Democrat party to swing even further left, a well-known diarist Tirge Caps posted a scathing attack against ObamaCare after being notified by their insurance provider of a doubling of their premiums.My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don’t go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.
Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife’s rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.
I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any f***ing penalty. What the h*ll kind of reform is this?
Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don’t qualify, anyway, so what’s the point?
Pretty strong words from a progressive on the left. In fact, when those on the right point out the financial realities of ObamaCare, they are accused of simply being racist against the President. Interestingly enough, Tirge Caps, altered the title of his article after ‘suggestions’ from people. He added ‘according to Kaiser’ to the initial title of “ObamaCare will double my monthly premium.” One of the comments attacked the insurance company as the bad guy indicating that he could probably get a better rate on the exchange.
The realities of the impact and implementation of ObamaCare must be meaningless to this commenter. The fact is, Californians are not even able to see which doctors and hospitals are within each plan offered. That is, if they can even get into the website. Additionally, going from a catastrophic plan which was the choice of Tirge Caps, to one that covers everything from pediatric care to birth control to abortions and so much more in between would undoubtedly increase costs for those not qualifying for a taxpayer assisted subsidy (which would be most people). Tirge Caps, like all other Americans have had their choice of health care plans taken away by the Democrats who laude themselves on being ‘pro-choice’. But, it seems that only applies to murdering babies, not making a decision regarding your healthcare.
An article in Forbes explains in simple terms why people are witnessing their premiums double and, in some cases, triple.
The answer is that Obamacare wasn’t designed to help healthy people with average incomes get health insurance. It was designed to force those people to pay more for coverage, in order to subsidize insurance for people with incomes near the poverty line, and those with chronic or costly medical conditions.
Yes, the realities of ObamaCare are settling in with people across the political spectrum as they learn just how damaging this un-American, individual mandate will be to their own family’s economic bottom line. Barack Obama has long used the line that ‘no one should go bankrupt because they get sick’. Instead, many will now face the possibility of going bankrupt, losing their homes, and/or making a choice between paying a bill and buying food thanks to the massive government overreach of this ill-named ‘Affordable Care Act’ that Americans cannot afford.
This is what happens when you sell collectivism to the people under the guise of compassion. Once guilted into compliance, they learn that they are the ones who are hurt.
