OBAMA: NOT A DICTATOR?

How are Obama’s Royal Edicts
Any Different From King George III’s?

Matthew Burke, TPNN News Editor — It was nine months ago and Dictator President Obama was attempting to explain to CNN Obama Sycophant White House Correspondent Jessica Yellin why Obama can’t just lock up congressional leaders in a room until they reach a deficit-reduction agreement. Obama explained to her, “Jessica, I am not a dictator, I’m the president,” he said to reporters in the White House Press Briefing Room.

Just what is a dictator, and what do they do? Well, simply put, they dictate! They are not restrained by any “separation of powers” or constitutional limitations. A dictator invents laws that don’t exist, ignores laws that do (when they need to in order to maintain or expand their power), and changes existing laws whenever they feel like it.

Can an American president change an existing law, say, Obamacare, which democrats repeat ad nauseam is the “law of the land” and can’t be changed? Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, who were attempting to change Obamacare legally, heard the “law of the land” mantra from the left, including from the democrat media complex, as though Obamacare was permanently chiseled in Moses’s stone tablets. “It’s settled law,” we were told unceasingly, promoting the newly created myth that once a law has passed, there’s nothing that can be done about it. It’s a good thing that we didn’t listen to democrats when it came to slavery, which was also the “law of the land.”

But, just playing along here, if Obamacare is sacred, if it is the only law in history that can’t be repealed, delayed or amended, as Cruz and Lee were pushing for, then how is Obama arbitrarily changing it, based purely on his political whims? Isn’t it true that only Congress can pass, change or amend laws, and that the president, being the head of the separate but equal, executive branch, can only “execute” laws?

My question for the Left is this: If a Democrat president can change existing laws without Congress, is it now okay for a Republican president to do the same? Obama is certainly under political pressure from within his own party to “fix” (the unfixable) Obamacare, so he now has the new dictatorial power to change it? Therefore, one would have to logically assume, in the name of “fairness,” that the next Republican president, say Ted Cruz or Rand Paul, has that same dictatorial power to eliminate any part of Obamacare they don’t like or that they’re receiving political pressure to change, say, wiping out the individual mandate, which would in essence rip it out by its roots.

Even Marxist Howard Dean, a fan of Single Payer Communist healthcare, is publicly wondering if Obama has the legal authority to go around Congress to change Obamacare. Duh, Howie, there’s nothing to “wonder” about here. He doesn’t. Obama took an oath to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States,” not abuse the office to circumvent Congress and change laws. Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution says that every president (note: regardless of any promises of “hope and change.”): “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” This does not allow Obama, or any other president, to change laws depending on the current political environment.

This important distinction of separation of powers is so important that the Framers made it come first in the Constitution, Article I, Section 1 (emphasis added):
All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”
What part of the word “All” is difficult for the Left to understand? Wouldn’t “All” include everything about Obamacare, including enforcement dates, which Obama has taken it upon himself to arbitrarily change for political expediency? And to the RINOs in Congress, how are Obama’s actions to usurp authority, in clear violation of the Constitution, not impeachable? Is Leftist Howard Dean the voice of reason here? God help us all!

We are a nation of laws, not subject to the dictates of men, no matter how they coin their orders as “hope and change” or moving “forward.” This uniquely American principle protects us, to the degree we strongly adhere to it, against both tyrannical and arbitrary rule. If we allow Obama to play dictator in this case, where else do you think he’ll use these newly invented powers? How are Obama’s royal edicts any different from King George III’s? They are not and we are entering an incredibly dangerous time in America with a president who believes he is and acts like a dictator. If he is allowed to continued to operate in this manner, things will only get worse.

About TheTeaParty.net
TheTeaParty.net is a division of Stop This Insanity Inc. and is a national non-profit 501 (c)(4) organization created in 2009 for the education and advancement of the constitutional conservative values of the Tea Party movement. This organization was created to help give the power of government back to the people. We believe, like many of you, that our government has grown out-of-control in a death spiral of unsustainable and barely imaginable trillion-dollar deficits and a national debt rivaling Gross Domestic Product. This government has ignored the Constitution that defines us; invaded the liberty from which our nation was born; and daily drains away the individuality and entrepreneurial spirit of Americans in order to advance a radical, socialist policy built on the back of American taxpayers. We, like many of you, decided to stand up and do something about it. » Learn More
