With His Typical Dismissive Arrogance
Jennifer Burke, TPNN Online Editor — One thing Americans have grown accustomed to with President Barack Obama is that he has a penchant for lying. Maybe that is putting it lightly. He is a pathological liar.When news broke out that the IRS was targeting, harassing, and intimidating tea party groups, Obama stood before reporters at a televised news conference and called the actions of the IRS ‘outrageous’.
If in fact IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on, and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that’s outrageous. I’m not going to comment on their specific findings prematurely, but I can tell you that if you’ve got the IRS operating in anything less than a neutral and nonpartisan way, then that is outrageous, it is contrary to our traditions, and people have to be held accountable and it’s got to be fixed. So we’ll wait and see what exactly all the details and the facts are.Strong words from a man whose IRS was simply following his lead in attacking those he perceives as his ‘enemies’. The enemies list was expanded beyond just exposing Romney donors to include every day Americans who chose to become politically active in forming or joining a Tea Party.
At the time, there was public outrage from both the left and the right that such a thing could even happen. Perhaps that is what caused Obama to mirror this outrage in his press conference. But, now that time has passed and the Tea Party is yet again the favorite punching bag of both the left and some on the right, Obama has changed his tune.
During an interview, in front of a studio audience, with Chris Matthews, Barack Obama made the following statement in regards to the IRS attack, targeting, and harassment of tea party and other conservative groups.
“If on the other hand, you’ve got an office in Cincinnati, an IRS office, that I think for bureaucratic reasons, is trying to streamline a difficult law to begin with, and interpret whether a non-profit is a political organization, deserves a tax exempt agency and they’ve got a list. Suddenly, everyone’s outraged… And, I’ll point out that there are some so-called progressives and perceived to be liberal commentators during that week that were just outraged at the possibility that these folks had in some way been discriminated against. And, that is what gets news.”So, there you have it. From calling the actions of the IRS outrageous to now saying no one should be outraged because the IRS was simply doing its job trying to ‘streamline a difficult law’, Barack Obama has put his hypocrisy on full display.
Political expediency is the backbone of much of what Obama does. He will twist a narrative to fit his purpose to appear compassionate and outraged, as he did when the IRS scandal was revealed. But, the reality of who Obama is typically reveals itself. The outrage feigned is replaced with his typical dismissive arrogance.
