Bizzle Responds To Macklemore’s “Same Love”

TPNN — On Sunday, musical artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis serenaded 33 couples at the Grammy Awards with their song, “Same Love,” a song defending gay marriage. These couples were an amalgamation of young, old and homosexual couples and they were married by Queen Latifah on stage- a move that has stirred controversy and riled those who support the value of traditional marriage.In response to Macklemore and Lewis’ song, a Texas Christian rapper, Bizzle, has remixed Macklemore and Lewis’ song to include his own lyrics that scathingly refutes the legitimacy of homosexual relationships and gay marriage.
The song begins, “It’s funny how the media portrays things. They’re really pushing hard for this gay thing and it’s so wicked how they will manipulate things- Can’t even disagree without making it a ‘hate’ thing. I say you’re wrong and you holler ‘hate’ instantly, but you say that we’re the ones who don’t tolerate differences.”
The song takes on common defenses of gay marriage and homosexuality as a normal lifestyle and states, “Sayin’ it was the way you was born and I’m sure you lust like I do, just in a different form. But I’m married, so if I give into mine, I’m a cheater; if you give into yours, you just fight to make it legal.”
Bizzle also vehemently refutes the popular notion that the fight to legalize same-sex marriage is comparable to the Civil Rights Movement.
“You’d rather fight God than fight sin. The Bible is alright until it calls what you like sin and I feel so disrespected that you were so desperate you would compare your sexual habits to my skin. Calling it the ‘new black?’ Tell me where they do that. They hung us like tree ornaments… they burned us for entertainment, you ever go through that? Moms raped in front of kids while they shoot dad. Ever been murdered for trying to learn how to read, bro? No? Show of hands- I didn’t think so.”
The song repeatedly states that all sin is contemptible. Adultery or other forms of sinful desire are condemned throughout the song. Bizzle raps, “Keeping your sexual desired oppressed is so lame to you, but if you get married, that’s what you expect your mate to do.”
Bizzle’s rap also relates acting on homosexual urges to other various forms of sin. He notes that pedophiles are acting sinful, but notes that they, too, feel they were born that way. “See how that cycle is? Nobody wants to repent of their evil, so we all try justifying it and you saying it’s about rights, but you lying though; domestic partnerships gave you rights a long time ago.”
The song urges repenting over fighting to legitimize their preferences. “We’re all wicked and desire sin, but imagine a world where nobody kept their desires in. If something was called ‘right’ simply because we desired it, if your right goes against my right, whose right would win?”
The song concludes with Bizzle speaking to the continued beat as he notes that it’s “ignorant” to believe all homosexuals act the same. He also notes that many within the gay community are actively disrespectful and, at times, violent with those who uphold more traditional values with regards to marriage. He concludes by reminding the listener that we all struggle with sin, but urges to continue fighting saying, “God is worth it.”
The song is sure to stir mixed reactions amongst Americans at a time when 33 states maintain bans on same-sex marriage. The issue remains highly controversial and Sunday’s Grammy stunt serves as a reminder that popular culture is playing an important role in this divisive issue.
