CROWD BURNS U.S. AND ISRAELI FLAGS AND CHANTS “DEATH TO U.S., DEATH TO ISRAEL”

Rouhani Says Iran Faces “No Military Threat”

Robert Spencer, Director of Jihad Watch — This is what it has come to: the President of Iran appears at a rally where frenzied crowds are burning American and Israeli flags and chanting, “Death to America! Death to Israel!,” and boasts about Iran facing no military threat, while the President of the United States and the mainstream media insist that the Iranians are now “moderate” and anxious to make peace. Meanwhile, Iran sends warships into U.S. waters, as one of its top naval commanders boasts about how they’re going to sink American ships. Clearly they know that there is absolutely nothing they can do that would stop Barack Obama from supporting and aiding them.

“Rouhani: There is ‘no military threat’ against Iran,” by Nasser Karimi for the Associated Press, February 11 (thanks to Jerk Chicken):
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday called for “fair and constructive” nuclear talks with world powers as the nation marked the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution with massive rallies, complete with anti-American and ant-Israeli [sic] chants.

The crowd burned US and Israeli flags with pictures of President Barack Obama and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and shouted “Down with the US” and “Death to Israel” — chants that are commonplace on most Iranian rallies but now come against the backdrop of Rouhani’s policy of outreach to the West.

Rouhani’s appeal came ahead of next week’s talks between Iran and six world powers seeking to eliminate fears that Tehran may use its nuclear programs to make atomic weapons. Both sides are to meet on February 18 in Vienna to try to translate a landmark interim deal struck in November into a permanent agreement.

“Iran is determined to hold fair and constructive talks within the framework of international regulations and we hope to see such an intention on the other side as well,” Rouhani told hundreds of thousands gathered in Tehran’s Azadi, or Liberty, square and in the streets leading to it.

Tuesday marks the 35th anniversary of the revolution that toppled the pro-US Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and brought Islamists to power. State media reported similar rallies elsewhere across the country, saying the gatherings drew millions of Iranians.

Tehran and world powers struck the interim deal in November under which Iran agreed to cap its controversial uranium enrichment program in return for the easing of some sanctions by the West. The interim accord is supposed to last for six months as Iran and the six-nation group — the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany — negotiate a final deal.

Rouhani said Tuesday the talks must be “based on good intentions and peacefulness,” and dismissed any perception of military threats against Iran.

“If some have the illusion that there is a threat against the Iranian nation on the table, we say they need new eyeglasses,” Rouhani told the rally in Tehran. “There is no military threat against the Iranian nation.”

» Nigeria: Jihad Mass Murder Death Toll At Christian Village Reaches 106
The unimaginable horror of this is compounded by the world’s indifference. The few who dare to call attention to jihad attacks like this one are vilified, mocked, shunned, ridiculed, and defamed, even as such attacks multiply and the body count mounts ever higher. Right now Western governments have apparently decided that jihad attacks like this one can’t happen in their countries, and so don’t matter, and that when they take place in faraway lands such as Nigeria, they need not disturb the comforting fictions about Islam’s jihad doctrine that form the cornerstone of so much of their domestic and foreign policy.

» Interfaith Outreach In Nigeria: Chanting “Allahu Akbar,” Muslims Murder Over 50 Christians
This is the kind of story that shows how truly evil the “Islamophobia” smear campaign against foes of jihad terror really is. Reporting on this kind of story gets one charged with being an “Islamophobe.” No one dares speak up for the persecuted Christians, because they don’t want to be tarred as “hateful” and “bigoted,” and that is what happens to everyone — everyone — who does speak up. This is what the smearmongers are enabling: the murder of ever more innocent people, while the world human rights community looks the other way or commissions another study about “Islamophobia.”

» Indonesia: John Kerry Beats Mosque Drum To Call Muslims To Prayer
If John Kerry went into a cathedral and rang the bells, there would probably be a lot of indignation about it in the mainstream media — even more if a Republican Secretary of State did it. Outraged editorials would huff and puff about the “separation of church and state,” and call on the Secretary to be more “inclusive.” But no one will mind this. The U.S., after all, builds mosques in other countries — only if it built a church would the “wall of separation” be unacceptably breached.
