Jennifer Burke, TPNN Online Editor — On Monday, we celebrated Memorial Day, a day set aside to give thanks to those who lost their lives in service to America in the fight for freedom. In recognizing their exceptionalism, we realize America’s exceptionalism and the fact that men and women every day are willing to lay down their lives to protect America’s freedom and opportunity. Given the history of our country and the lives lost in the quest for and defense of freedom, the tweet of advice from Obama’s Labor Secretary, Joe Perez, is troubling enough. The fact that it was tweeted on Memorial Day, from his official Twitter account, even more disturbing.Congrats to @oberlincollege grads today. Remember: Don’t let individualism trump community; move from a selfie culture to an #ussie culture.

That’s right. Obama’s Labor Secretary tweeted encouragement to college graduates to forget about being an individual and about themselves, but not in the way that those veterans sacrificed themselves in the line of duty. No, he was encouraging them to ‘come over to the dark side’ by preaching none other than communistic collectivism – and the Twitterverse let him have it.
