She Ran On A Pretty Simple Platform:

Saira is 17-years old, a senior in high school, and she just won the Republican primary in West Virginia to represent the 59th District in the House of Delegates. Oh, and she won by defeating a 66-year old two-term incumbent.
While her primary opponent Larry Krump, attacked her as inexperienced, she sees her age as an advantage. In an interview with The Martinsburg Herald-Mail, Saira said, “I don’t have as many biases because I am younger and so I’m more capable of taking the views of the people directly from the district to Charleston. I think I’m fully capable of doing the job, and I don’t think its rocket science by any means – not if you just listen to the people.
The Left and the establishment on the Right always say that candidates must leave social issues off the table and make no mention of them, unless, of course, for the Left it means pushing their agenda.
But, Saira made a belief system a central party of her campaigning. She ran on a pretty simple platform. Conservative. Christian. Pro-Life. Pro-Family. Pro-Gun. Pro-Business. Pro-Marriage. And she won, 872-728.
She will now face her Democrat opponent, Layne Diehl, in the general election in November. If she wins, she will become the youngest legislator at 18, her birthday is in July, to serve in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Her win would also put two Blairs in the West Virginia legislature. Her father, Craig Blair, is a state senator.
Knowing that many are looking at her campaign and to her as a role model, Saira added, “It’s wonderful. I really love the idea that I can potentially be a role model for not only the youth around my area but all across the state.”
While Saira plans on attending West Virginia University upon graduation, she said she will take the semester off to serve her time in the legislature should she win. Many eyes will be looking at this race in West Virginia. Her win would offer a fresh face and a bold voice for traditional Christian conservatism from a young girl who simply wants to serve her community.
