Heather Clark, Christian News Network — (WASHINGTON) Barack Obama and the Vatican’s Council for Interreligious Dialogue issued greetings this week to Hindus worldwide in observance of the religion’s annual festival of lights known as Diwali.“I want to wish a Happy Diwali to all those who are celebrating the festival of lights here in the United States and around the world,” Obama stated in a video message released on Wednesday. “For Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists, lighting the lamp—the diya—is a chance to remember, even in the midst of darkness, that light will ultimately prevail.”
Diwali is an ancient festival originating in India, and is considered the largest shopping season in the Hindu religion. In addition to hanging lights and sharing legends and mythological stories about battles between good and evil, Hindus offer prayers to one of more of their deities—most commonly Lakshmi, the “goddess of wealth.”
“I was proud to host the first Diwali celebration at the White House back in 2009,” Obama said in his recorded greeting. “And I know that Michelle and I will never forget the wonderful time we had celebrating Diawali in Mumbai with food, dancing and the company of friends.”
Obama has observed the Hindu holiday at the White House for the past six years, with Congress participating in the polytheistic day for the first time last year. As previously reported, legislators from across the country gathered on Capitol Hill in 2013 as diyas were lit and a Hindu priest chanted Vedic mantras. Special jasmine garlands were distributed to attendees, who also were marked with the traditional red tilak on their forehead. There has not been word as to whether Diwali will be observed by Congress this year.
However, as it did last year, the Vatican—the center of Roman Catholicism—issued a greeting to Hindus and called upon the world’s religions to coexist with each other.
“The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue joyfully greets all of you on the festive occasion of Deepavali,” the statement, signed by Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, read. “May the Transcendent Light illumine your hearts, homes and communities, and may all your celebrations deepen the sense of belonging to one another in your families and neighborhoods, and so further harmony and happiness, peace and prosperity.”

‘Satan’ Tells Driver To Crash Into Ten Commandments
Investigation under way into destruction of Oklahoma City monument
Faith Under Fire — An investigation is under way in Oklahoma City into a driver who crashed into a well-known Ten Commandments monument on the grounds of the state Capitol, breaking it into pieces.According to a report from KFOR Television, the man was taken in for “mental evaluation” after he told officers that Satan told him to urinate on the stone, then crash into it.
The vandalism hit at one of the Ten Commandments monuments that has been challenged over the years by those objecting to the display of the tenets of Judeo-Christian faith. It, however, has remained on the grounds as part of the history of the state and nation.
Hiram Sasser, director of Liberty Institute, which has worked on issues regarding the display of the Ten Commandments, said it was just last month that a judge in Oklahoma had ruled the display constitutional.
“We are shocked and saddened that someone would engage in such a hostile and violent act against a passive monument,” he said. “We are hopeful the ACLU and the American Atheists who have brought two separate lawsuits against the Ten Commandments monument will publicly condemn this senseless act of violence.”

The U.S. Department of Defense is reporting that a Marine in Baghdad was killed in a “non-combat related incident” though there are no details of what happened. That absence of information is made more troubling by the fact that ISIS continues its march on Baghdad and threatens to take it: A U.S. Marine was killed in Baghdad in a non-combat-related incident, becoming the first U.S. servicemember to die in that country since the end of active U.S. combat operations in 2011. Thursday’s death of Lance Cpl. Sean P. Neal, 19, of Riverside, Calif., is under investigation, the Pentagon said. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command...Of course, the Obama administration has not exactly burnished its credentials as a paragon of credibility. In fact, it has gone out of its way to assert that U.S. boots will not be on the ground in Iraq. That is already patently false; Neal’s death would seemingly demonstrate it. We’re told the war in Iraq has ended but the U.S. embassy in Baghdad will soon be in a war zone if ISIS has its way. As Neal’s death shows, there are already American boots on the ground in Iraq....

New Evidence In Fast And Furious Scandal Reveals Why Eric Holder And Valerie Jarrett Should Both Be In Jail
By Matthew Burke — New evidence obtained by government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, reveal that Obama’s most trusted and loyal adviser, Valerie Jarrett, was managing Eric Holder’s lies told to Congress in the Obama-Holder illegal Fast and Furious gun-running scandal, in which the regime was funneling American-made weapons into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. The scheme, which was intended to sucker Americans into giving up more of their Second Amendment Rights, resulted in the death of U.S. border patrol agent Brian Terry, as well as reportedly hundreds of Mexican citizens.
Only after Judicial Watch sued the Obama Regime did they turn over this latest information which ties Jarrett to the subsequent lies and cover-up following the deadly scandal. A federal court ordered the Obama Department of Justice to turn over the records over the objection of the bureaucracy.
Previously, the secretive regime refused to turn over the requested Fast and Furious records, even after Judicial Watch filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Buried deep in the 1,000-plus pages of records secured by Judicial Watch was the fact that Jarrett, who many have said is as close to Obama as no other person on the planet, was brought into the fray to manage Holder’s lies about the gun-running operation.
