Senate Passes $1.1 Trillion Spending Bill:
Funds Obamacare and Obama’s Amnesty
By Matthew Burke — The U.S. Senate passed a 1,600 page, $1.1 trillion spending bill, known as the” CRomnibus,” fully funding both Obama’s illegal amnesty and highly unpopular Obamacare on Saturday night with a 56-40 vote, averting a partial government shutdown, increasing overall government spending, and funding most of the government through September of 2015. Additionally, also on Saturday evening, Senator Ted Cruz’s constitutional point of order against Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty, which violates the separation of powers and Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution, was voted down by 74 senators, with only 22 voting with the Constitution and Senator Cruz.
“If you believe President Obama’s executive order was unconstitutional, vote yes,” Cruz said before the vote was taken. “If you think the president’s executive order is constitutional, vote no,” he urged.
The Department of Homeland Security will only be funded through February of 2015, a move GOP leaders said is somehow a protest against Obama’s illegal amnesty, while simultaneously voting to fund it.
In all, 18 Republican Senators and 21 Democrats voted in bipartisan fashion against the massive bill. Socialist Bernie Sanders also voted “no.”
