By Bill Chandler — US President Barack Obama’s speech at the Terrorism and Extremism summit in Washington left many scratching their head.The president said he rejects the notion that ISIL and Al Qaeda represent Islam. But he also called on Muslims to speak out and reject the terrorists’ claims that the west is a threat to Islam. “They are not religious leaders — they’re terrorists,” he said, referring to the extremist groups. “And we are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”

[LD note: Obama stated, “We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.” (which contradicts the above Quran quotes). But according to Attorney General Eric Holder, “we’re not at a time of war.” ... So which is it? We are either at war as Obama stated, or we are not at war, as Holder said. It can not be both.
Obama argued that groups like the Islamic State “use Islam to justify their violence” and that to accept that connection would be to embrace the ‘terrorists’ narrative.”
“No one country, no one army, no one group is going to be able to respond to this adequately,” he said Thursday. He offered no hint that the summit had produced a clear, unified and immediate global strategy to ultimately defeat the Islamic State — instead issuing the declaration to the Islamic world that, “We are not at war with Islam.” he was going to extremes to avoid talking about the threat of Islamic extremists.
Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee said “Sadly, this was a summit without substance. Americans understand we are not at war with Islam. But, we will not defeat these fanatics if we refuse to define them for what they are — violent Islamist extremists.” McCaul accused Obama of spending more time hitting that point than he did laying out a “credible strategy.”
“Instead … we got empty rhetoric from the president and the announcement of ‘new’ initiatives that are really a rehash of old programs,” he said in a statement. “Worse still, the president proposed more meetings and summits to tackle the problem. We don’t need more summits. We need a real strategy from this president, AND WE NEED IT NOW.”
But Walid Phares, Fox News Middle East analyst, said Thursday that even America’s European allies are putting forward a narrative that acknowledges a confrontation, not with Islam itself but with “jihadists. Only the Obama administration is not,” But terrorism analyst Zuhdi Jasser took issue with the approach saying:
“[Obama] is insulting, I think, to many millions of reform-minded Muslims who are trying to reject and push back theocracy,” he told Fox News on Wednesday. “And the leader of the free world in the meantime is saying, ‘Well, these terror groups are sort of coming out of thin air and it’s just sort of a crime, education and a job problem’ — which is absurd and oversimplifying. Advance liberty, engage civil society and engage reformists and take sides within the house of Islam against the theocratic which are dominating every conversation for Muslims.”...

Pentagon Tips Off ISIS On Plan To Take Back Mosul

Michael Maloof, WND — (WASHINGTON) The United States has laid out a battle plan to retake the Iraqi city of Mosul in an April-to-May time frame, using some 20,000 to 25,000 Iraqi troops who currently are being trained, a highly unusual disclosure that one intelligence source told WND is “pure lunacy.”In a teleconference with reporters at the Pentagon, a U.S. Central Command official said brigades of Iraqis along with Kurdish peshmerga forces and Sunni militia will seek to take back Iraq’s second largest city from ISIS, which has held it since June.
The half-hour briefing attended by WND and other media outlets was given on condition that the official could not be identified.
The disclosure surprised many on the call who wondered why details would be released months ahead of the planned offensive.
An intelligence source who spoke to WND also on condition that his identity not be revealed called the disclosure “pure lunacy.”
The source referred to previous disclosures in advance of an attack that gave enemy forces in Iraq time to set up improvised explosive devices.
The Pentagon briefer said that all training and equipping of Iraqi forces now under way will be for taking back Mosul. He said that some six brigades of equipment now are in place in preparation for the expected Mosul offensive in April or May....

By Bill Chandler, TPNN — Rudy Giuliani refused to apologize for his controversial remark on Wednesday night about President Barack Obama.
“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said at a fundraising event for Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
“He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me,” the former New York City mayor continued. “He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up, through love of this country.”
Megyn Kelly asked if he wanted to apologize for or retract his comment.
“Not at all, I want to repeat it,” Giuliani bluntly said, doubling down on the incendiary remark.
“But to condemn his patriotism, to question his love of America?” Kelly pressed.
Giuliani denied he was questioning Obama’s patriotism, but reiterated he did not regret his comment.
“I don’t hear from him what I heard from Harry Truman, what I heard from Bill Clinton, what I heard from Jimmy Carter, which is these wonderful words about what a great country we are, what an exceptional country we are,” he said.
“I’m right about this,” Giuliani added. “I have no doubt about it. I do not withdraw my words.”...
