‘The Freedom Of Information Act’
By Drew Curry — So much for the most transparent administration in history.On National Freedom of Information Day of all days, the White house unilaterally removed the regulations that require them to be subject to public oversight via the Freedom of Information Act.
The White House said removing regulations is consistent with recent court rulings, and that those rulings declare that the office of the President of the United States is not subject to the transparency law.
Some of the duties of the office that were under the Freedom of Information Act included the archival of emails.
Aside from coming on the day that was supposed to be a celebration of transparency in government, this turn of events is somewhat of a foreshadowing of what could be a huge part of the upcoming race for the office in 2016.
Many republican hopefuls, including Rand Paul are camping hard on government transparency, yet so did Obama and Hillary back in 2007 and 2008. Hopefully, someone, someday, will actually follow up on that promise.
The NSA scandals, the newly leaked information about Hillary Clinton and her use of a private email server, an now the absolving of transparency for the White House from public oversight is just a cherry on the top of the most corrupt administration in history.
So don’t go looking for any transparency and accountability from this administration. Not that you were probably expecting any. If you’re reading this, chances are you were pretty skeptical in the first place....
Washington Post Flays Obama For ‘Strange’ Gun Claims
By Cheryl Chumley, WND — President Obama’s recent gun-related claims have come under fire by factcheckers, with the Washington Post specifically giving him three-of-four “Pinocchios” for saying U.S. homicide rates exceed those of other industrial nations by a wide margin.Obama’s comment in South Carolina, last week: “What we have to recognize is, is that our homicide rates are so much higher than other industrial countries. I mean, by like a mile.”
The takeaway message to the Benedict College town hall attendees was that the United States had the highest homicide rate in the industrialized world, Fox News reported. But that message is far from true.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development reports that the average homicide rate for the world’s 36 industrialized countries comes in at 4.1 per 100,000 people – and that Brazil tops the list, with a rate of 25.5.
The United States, meanwhile, comes in at fourth, with a rate of 5.2. Tied with the United States is Chile.
Obama also claimed “there are neighborhoods where it’s easier for you to buy a handgun and clips than it is for you to buy a fresh vegetable,” Fox News reported.
The Washington Post took Obama to task for the remark....
