By Colleen Conley — While tension mounts in anticipation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United States, an explosive report in a Kuwaiti newspaper has surfaced, which states that President Obama threatened to shoot down Israeli jet fighters in 2014 if the Israeli’s came close to attacking an Iranian nuclear weapons facility.The news comes third-hand report via a Bethlehem-based news agency, Ma’an, which transcribed the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida’s report, with the primary source purportedly being anonymous but “well-placed” sources in the Israeli government.
It has been revealed that the US had been in secret talks with Iran, without Israel’s knowledge, and concessions were reached which were unacceptable to Mr. Netanyahu. Israel is America’s primary ally in the region and Iran has repeatedly threatened that it’s goal is to annihilate the Jewish state. According to Ma’an’s transcription of the Kuwaiti report, the Israeli Prime Minister made the decision to launch airstrikes against the Iranian nuclear program after learning of the secret negotiations, which he felt threatened Israel’s national security. So began four days of deliberations with other leaders in the Israeli government and military, and weeks of training in preparation for the attack.
The Kuwaiti report claims that an Israeli minister with “good ties” revealed the plans to the Obama Administration, which threatened to shoot down the Israeli jets before they could strike their Iranian targets. Netanyahu is said to have backed down in the face of this threat and canceled the operation. Relations have been rancorous between the US and Israel since then.Israel National News may support the Ma’an report, recalling a 2009 Daily Beast interview with Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinksi, in which the idea of heading off an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program was discussed.
Brzezinksi, who name was floated as a possible aid to the Obama administration before the 2012 election, recommended exactly the course of action the Kuwaiti newspaper is claiming Obama took, saying that Israeli planes “have to fly over our airspace in Iraq.” He suggested confronting Israeli planes on such a strike mission, and giving them “the choice of turning back or not,” leaving little doubt as to what he thought the alternative should be. Brzezinski is known for his staunch anti-Israeli opinions.
Similarly, one of Obama’s closest advisers, Samantha Power, an anti-Israeli zealot, suggested invading Israel with American ground forces to impose Palestinian statehood back in 2002.
There has been no official response from either the White House or the Israeli government about the report, and amidst all of the public jostling, its not known whether or not it os true. Nonetheless, the past few weeks have been extremely contentious between the two powers, as the Obama Administration has all but completely snubbed Netanyahu’s visit, and some Democrats have called for a boycott of the Prime Minister’s Tuesday address to a joint session of Congress....

Ted Cruz, R-Texas, strongly suggested the fix was in from the beginning by GOP leaders to sabotage the fight against Obama’s amnesty, saying, “The cake was baked from the start.”The senator said that was evident to him immediately when GOP leaders chose a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, as the vehicle to try to stop the amnesty President Obama granted to five-million illegal immigrants by executive order in November.
Cruz made the observations while speaking to a small group of reporters across the street from the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, on Thursday.
WND kicked off the conversation by asking: Why won’t GOP leaders fight amnesty?
If the GOP leadership had really wanted to stop amnesty, Cruz explained, they would not have attached the provision defunding Obama’s amnesty to the DHS funding bill.
They would have attached it to a bill defunding the Environmental Protection Agency, “or some other non-essential agency.”
He described such agencies as “hostages the GOP could afford to hold.”...
