“Recent Barna Group studies have revealed a rather disturbing statistic. In the survey, among those labeling themselves “Christian”, over 50% claimed that not everything written in the Bible is true.
If this is the case, then what do we base our Christian faith on? If the Bible is not the inerrant, inspired Word of God, then we have a big problem. If not everything written in the Bible is true, then who gets to decide which parts are? What about Creation? Moses and the Ten Commandments? Isaiah’s prophecies? What about the Gospel?
The context of scripture is clear. If it’s poetry, it’s clear. Parables? It’s clear. Prophecy? The context makes it clear. Historical narrative? Perfectly clear. Not only are the Scriptures clear, but they have stood the test of time as being absolutely true.
Fairy-tales are pretty easy to spot when examined closely… Like the story of human evolution, which starts with non-living matter spontaneously generating in the Universe, then LIFE magically springing up from that non-living matter.
Observable science confirms the history that we read in Genesis, whether through global geological evidence for the great flood, or intelligently designed language found in human genetic sequencing.
If the Bible is not completely true, then it can’t be trusted reliably. But history has shown that it can be trusted. It’s perfectly accurate from Genesis to Revelation.”
