THIS WEEK we encounter a man who may be the most stubborn person in all of history, the pharaoh of the Exodus. Despite plagues of terrifying proportions and horrific consequences, Pharaoh refused to allow the Hebrews to leave, just as God knew he would.But that was exactly why God raised Pharaoh to power — so that His name would be proclaimed in all the Earth (Exodus 9:16).
We also discuss an ancient Egyptian text, “The Admonition of Ipuwer”, which seems to parallel the state of affairs in Egypt during the time leading up to the Exodus.
