Over the past two years, NTEB has brought you numerous stories about the drastic loss of privacy associated with the installation of smart meters to control water and electric services. But as you will see, they are really just about control.
By Geoffrey Grider, Editor-in-chief and founder of NTEBLONG BEACH — Water authorities are using a new tool in a major effort to crack down on people and businesses wasting water in light of new water restrictions issued by Gov. Jerry Brown to fight the drought.
The Long Beach Water Department says sprinklers at a McDonald’s restaurant on Bellflower Boulevard went on for 45 minutes at a time, twice a night, for an undefined number of nights. Complaints continued to mount as water pooled and wasted. The department, however, could do little about the wasting.
That was before the smart meter.
Since its installation in February, Long Beach Water Department General Manager Kevin Wattier says he saw an immediate spike by tens of thousands of gallons, each time McDonald’s overwatered their property....

Bush's 'imperial' presidency, have taken to cheering on President Obama has he usurps and arrogates power in the name of "progress." This phenomenon was on full display as Democrats actively urged Obama to pull the trigger on his unilateral immigration fiat, which he'd repeatedly dismissed as illegal in the recent past (at least one federal court has since agreed). They similarly defended the president's various power grabs on Obamacare, including delaying and altering entire provisions of the law for political reasons, as well as appropriating billions in payments to insurance companies that Congress never authorized. But it seems as though a number of Democrats on the Hill do have a breaking point on executive overreach, with dozens siding with Republicans' position that any nuclear agreement with Iran must be submitted to the legislative branch. The White House has threatened to veto pending legislation that would affirm Congress' right to vote on an eventual Iranian agreement, but the list of Democrats who are publicly crossing Obama on that question is growing -- and now includes the man who is likely to succeed Harry Reid's role as leader after the 2016 elections...Heads Up! “The shift to the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado is designed to safeguard the command's sensitive sensors and servers from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, military officers said.
The Pentagon last week announced a $700 million contract with Raytheon Corporation to oversee the work for North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command.
Admiral William Gortney, head of NORAD and Northern Command, said that "because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain's built, it's EMP-hardened."
"And so, there's a lot of movement to put capability into Cheyenne Mountain and to be able to communicate in there," Gortney told reporters.
"My primary concern was... are we going to have the space inside the mountain for everybody who wants to move in there, and I'm not at liberty to discuss who's moving in there," he said.
"A lot of the back office communications is being moved there," said one defense official.
Officials said the military's dependence on computer networks and digital communications makes it much more vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse, which can occur naturally or result from a high-altitude nuclear explosion.”

By Pamela Geller, Atlas Shrugs — Two days after posting a controversial open letter to President Barack Obama, written by “An American Citizen,” on his personal Facebook page, a lacrosse coach said he was forced to resign by school officials at Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine.Scott Lees, who was the head coach of the boys lacrosse team for four years, said he shared the open letter because he thought it was “interesting.” The letter asks a series of questions about Muslims and their contributions to America. The author eventually suggests that Muslims do not do “anything that contributes positively to the American way of life.”
“I thought it was an interesting letter to President Obama and his current administration who are not paying attention to Israel and focusing on Iran,” Lees told the Conway Daily Sun.

By Leo Hohmann, WND — Christians are rallying and spreading the love, stepping up with financial assistance to their brethren burned by the militant same-sex marriage movement.As WND reported, more than $842,000 poured in last week for a Pizzeria in Indiana forced to close by threats of violence from LGBT supporters.
Another small business owner, this time a florist in Richland, Washington, found herself singled out for refusing to provide service for a same-sex wedding in 2013. She refused and was hit last week with $1,001 in fines and court costs from the state. She still faces a lawsuit from the customer.
Barronelle Stutzman, sole owner of Arlene’s Flowers, could lose her business, home and retirement savings if she loses the suit. A GoFundMe account started by a friend on Feb. 23 sat almost completely idle for weeks but has come alive with donations over the past few days....
