(INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana) — A group of pot smokers have found a way to skirt tax laws and do illegal drugs by establishing themselves as a “church.” Indiana’s First Church of Cannabis was founded in March by 59-year-old Bill Levin, whose supporters are known as “cannibiterians.” Levin reportedly has over 700 followers to date.

While marijuana use for both recreational and medicinal purposes is still illegal in Indiana, on July 1, the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) is set to take effect, which prohibits the government from “substantially burdening” one’s free exercise of religion. Levin plans on holding his first service on this date. The leader, who speaks of the “power of weed” has already applied for recognition as a church with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and was granted the status last month. This means that the group will be tax-free, and that gifts to the organization will be tax-deductible....

The Extinction Protocol — June 2015 (CALIFORNIA) The first significant heat wave of the year sweeps into the Desert Southwest this week, possibly pushing temps above the 120 degree mark. High and low temperatures will be up to 15 degrees above average for much of the region. Desert areas can expect a period of temperatures well above 100 degrees, along with dry conditions. Desert locations below 3,500 feet will see temperatures rise well into the 100s, while the Colorado River Valley will be even hotter with highs in the 110s likely. The hot spot as usual will be Death Valley which may see temperatures over 120 degrees. An excessive heat watch has been issued for Thursday through next Monday for the Death Valley and Las Vegas area....

In response, counties all over the state have implemented water restrictions with hefty fines for those who go over their daily allotments. But those fines, often amounting to a small drop in the bucket for the more well off, have done little to curb use in high dollar communities.

Moreover, though California’s sanctions purportedly aim to save water, large mega corporations like Nestle and Walmart are still pulling water out of the ground at fractions of pennies on the dollar and reselling bottled products for hundred-fold or more profits. It’s been reported, for example, that Nestle puts a mark up of 53 Million percent on a single bottle. So while California lawmakers argue that the new restrictions make water usage equal for all, the fact is that, as George Orwell so succinctly put it in his classic novella Animal Farm, “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”...

Homeland Security Chair Calls Plan ‘Very Dangerous’ For America

By Leo Hohmann, WND — A Texas congressman who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee is calling on President Obama to abandon his plan to resettle thousands of Syrians displaced by that country’s civil war, saying the plan is “very dangerous” for America’s security. The problem is that ISIS has already said it will infiltrate the ranks of the refugees being sent by the United Nations to various Western countries, said Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas.

McCaul wrote a letter to President Obama Thursday expressing concerns over the administration’s announced plans to resettle some 2,000 Syrian refugees in the United States this year. Another 10,000 to 11,000 are in the U.N. pipeline destined for America.“Terrorists have made known their plans to attempt to exploit refugee programs to sneak terrorists into the West and the U.S. homeland,” read a statement released by McCaul’s committee Monday. “Chairman McCaul’s letter points out the potential national security threat this poses to the United States.” In fact, it is already happening....
