Transcript: Zimbabwe-born American medical school student Goodwell Nzou summed up the whole Cecil the Lion issue in seven words: "We don't cry for lions in Zimbabwe."
Goodwell gives good reason who Cecil the Lion is no folk hero in Zimbabwe, telling of a 14-year-old boy near his village in Zimbabwe who was killed by a lion while sleeping in his family's field to protect their crops. Who was there to protect this brave young man from Cecil or any other lion American cat-lovers want to pin on these giant, furry 'pussy cats'?
There seems to be a disconnect here because when an animal or insect has fur it is greatly beloved by PETA, who by the way, is calling for the Cecil-killing dentist to be hanged--literally--as in strangled by the neck until dead.
But heaven help a poor animal or insect if it has no fur. For without fur, it becomes a monster worthy of extermination. In fact in America they have names for people who rid homes of these undesired pets. They are called exterminator and they kill furless 'pets' like lice and bedbugs. You know, those cute little critters that love to snuggle you in bed on your body or in your hair? Perhaps this is racism at its core: loving the color or texture of one species' skin or fur while loathing another.
To this animal lovers might retort, "But bed bugs bite?," to which I say, so do lions but their bite is bigger, so go back to bed with your American bedbugs and shut up about our lions.
In his commentary published by the New York Times, Goodwell finished his sobering treatise with this: "We Zimbabweans are left shaking our heads, wondering why Americans care more about African animals than about African people.
"Don’t tell us what to do with our animals when you allowed your own mountain lions to be hunted to near extinction in the eastern United States. Don’t bemoan the clear-cutting of our forests when you turned yours into concrete jungles.
"And please, don’t offer me condolences about Cecil unless you’re also willing to offer me condolences for villagers killed or left hungry by his brethren, by political violence, or by hunger."

Victor Aureliano Martinez Ramirez, 29, an illegal immigrant from Durango Canatlan, Mexico, is accused of joining Jose Fernando Villagomez, 20, and breaking into the Santa Maria home of Marilyn Pharis at 9.45 a.m. on July 24, where they allegedly smashed the sleeping woman in the head with a claw hammer, then strangled her and raped her with a foreign object. Pharis managed to call 911, then died days later at the Marian Regional Medical Center, according to Christianity Today (via the Santa Maria Times)....

“Mustard-colored wastewater laced with heavy metals continues to drain into a river from an abandoned mine in southwestern Colorado at a rate of about 550 gallons per minute, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, which caused the spill.
The rate of discharge Saturday was down from about 740 gallons per minute on Friday. But three days after the massive spill, the agency said it still didn't know what the possible environmental and health impacts are.
The agency said it hoped to have a thorough lab analysis of the contaminants — which include lead and arsenic — as soon as Sunday morning.
"We're busting our tails to get that out," Environmental Protection Agency Regional Director Shaun McGrath said. "We know the importance to people to have this information."
In the meantime, the EPA said it had finished building two containment ponds to treat the yellow sludge. However, the ponds are meant to immediately address the spill and cleanup efforts will likely take a long time. McGrath could not say whether that means days or weeks.” source

Never before had there been so much interest in a debate this early in an election season, and it turned out to be the most watched program on Fox News ever. A record-shattering 24 million Americans tuned in, and what they witnessed was an expertly orchestrated assault on Donald Trump. From the very first moments, every question that was launched at Trump was an “attack question”. And then the laughable “focus group” that followed was specifically designed to show that “ordinary people” were “changing their minds” about Trump. By the end of the evening, it was abundantly clear that Fox News had purposely intended to try to destroy Trump’s candidacy.
And of course Fox News is far from alone. Every mainstream news outlet in the entire country is running anti-Trump news stories every single day. Virtually every other presidential candidate in both parties is attacking him, and virtually every “political expert” from across the political spectrum is trashing his chances of success.
So why is this happening?
Normally, candidates that are not part of the “establishment” do not pose much of a threat. In order to win elections in this country, especially on a national level, you need name recognition and you need lots and lots of money.
Donald Trump has both, and no matter what you may think of him you have to admit that he has star power.
And he was never supposed to run for president. You see, the truth is that only members of “the club” are allowed to play. The elite very carefully groom their candidates, and they are usually able to maintain a very tight grip on both major political parties.
This two-headed abomination that we call a “two party system” is in reality just a one party system. Yes, many Democrats and many Republicans really do hate one another, but at the end of the day there is very little difference between the two parties. That is why nothing ever really seems to change no matter who gets elected. George W. Bush continued almost all of Bill Clinton’s policies, and Barack Obama has continued almost all of George W. Bush’s policies. When they are running for office, they tell us what they think we want to hear, but once they get to D.C. they do exactly what the establishment wants them to do.
