• European Union Sets Guidelines for Labeling Products From Jewish Settlements in Palestinian Territories (The Wall Street Journal)
• The Israeli Foreign Ministry has called the E-U’s move a discriminatory step taken for political reasons. It accused the bloc of being inspired by the international movement of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. The ministry said the E-U has taken the step at the time when Israel is confronting what it called a wave of terrorism by Palestinians. Israel has summoned the E-U envoy to protest the move. It came after the European Commission said it backs labeling products from territories occupied by Israel. The measures will primarily cover fruit and vegetables from the area.
• A huge weather system is slamming the Midwest with heavy rains and strong winds, and it’s moving toward the East. A line of powerful storms is churning near the Great Lakes. At least 10 tornadoes have been reported. Rain and wind pummeled parts of Iowa overnight.
• The Federal Aviation Administration has received more than 5,300 reports of laser strikes so far this year. In New York and New Jersey, three local news helicopters reported lasers were flashed at them Wednesday evening.
• Emergency service officials in Guatemala issued an orange alert over increasing eruptions from the country's southeastern Fuego volcano.
• Israeli officials and settler leaders are slamming new EU guidelines for labeling products from Israeli settlements on occupied land.
• Rising temperatures and drought conditions could leave millions without food or livelihoods in parts of southern Africa.

Semantha Bunce, a 21 year old mom in Charlotte, North Carolina was breastfeeding her 4 month old son when intruders kicked in her front door. With her husband at work, she took steps to protect herself and her baby by putting him out of sight and grabbing a gun. Running toward the door to keep them away from her child, she was met with gunfire. But to the surprise of the intruders, she darted into the stairwell and began firing back, driving them from her home.Bunce was hit twice, in the arm and the stomach. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and will require more than one surgery to repair the damage. But she and her son are alive because she was able to remain calm and to protect them both. As a combat medic with the North Carolina National Guard Reserve, her husband stated that, “her training allowed her to stay mentally focused and calm during what was a fight for her life.”

During the same week, the Democratic Party sent out emails with President Obama referring to the misery caused by not having stricter controls on guns and urging support for his gun control agenda. I don’t think the Bunce family would agree. Had she not been armed and able to fight back, Semantha Bunce and her son would merely have been two more statistics.

Muslims set off on a murderous rampage in Paris Friday night, killing at least 166, including at least 100 concertgoers at a music hall featuring an American rock band. The death toll spread across six sites in the city.
Devout Muslims were celebrating the attacks on social media.
One of the apprehended jihadists reportedly stated, “I am from the Islamic State.” Hundreds of thousands of these savages have invaded the continent. ...

They cheer him on as the bombs explode on Paris street corners and in soccer stadiums. They cheer him on as the beheadings continue, and city after city in the Middle East falls into ISIS’ filthy hands. But all around all of us is the evidence that we are at war, in a state of siege, even as we repetitively continue to deny it.
