“OBAMA WANTS YOUR GUNS,” READS AN OMINOUS HEADLINE. “Support the protection of your Second Amendment rights!”
The appeal for campaign cash on Cruz’s official website features a large Photoshopped picture of the president in what appears to be SWAT gear.
On Twitter, the Republican presidential candidate and Texas senator urged his supporters TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST OBAMA’S EXECUTIVE ACTIONS to curb gun violence, which Cruz deems unconstitutional. The tweet includes the hashtag #ComeAndTakeIt, a slogan of independence and defiance closely associated with the Texas Revolution, and features another Photoshopped image of Obama — this time wearing a crown.
