COLORADO TEACHER ARRESTED FOR ‘CHILD ABUSE’ FOR FORCING CHILD TO STAND FOR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
BY WARNER TODD HUSTON — A Colorado middle school teacher is facing child abuse charges for forcing a boy to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance, a report says.
Karen Smith, a physical education teacher at Angevine Middle School in Lafayette, Colorado, is accused of grabbing a student by his jacket and forcing him to stand during the recitation and then forcibly removing him from the classroom afterward. The incident occurred on February 1, Denver’s CB affiliate reported.
Smith, a 20-year teaching veteran, turned herself in to police on February 1 to face the charges of child abuse as well as assault in the third degree.
The Boulder Valley School District released a statement saying they were cooperating with authorities. Read all about it...

But their plans were turned completely upside-down when their daughter arrived 15 weeks early while they were still on vacation. The Daily Mail reports Matilda Challoner was born on Dec. 3 weighing 1 pound, 6 ounces, less than the weight of an iPad. Born at 25 weeks, Matilda was just one week past the legal abortion limit in England. Earlier this week, doctors determined that Matilda was well enough to travel from Italy back to her native England. She currently is staying at the Rotherham General Hospital, and her mom and dad said they are not sure when she will be well enough to go home. “We are over the moon. I can’t believe she is coming home [to England]. It’s all we have hoped for,” Wilson said.
