It Is Later Than You Think It Is And High Time To
‘Put On The Lord Jesus Christ’ And Get Something Done
‘Put On The Lord Jesus Christ’ And Get Something Done
The old soap opera used to remind their viewers that “like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives”, and guess what? The Bible is telling us the same thing about the fleeting nature of time.
In Romans 13, the “authority chapter”, there is a passage near the bottom that many people tend to over look, and that’s an urgent call from our apostle Paul to get in the game while there is still time to do it. True, here we are 2,000 years later and the Lord has not yet returned to come get us, but how many members of the Church, who thought they had more time, have gone to glory to see Him? ‘Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.’ Can I get an amen?
Time is a very precious thing to possess, and something that begins to slip through our fingers from the moment we are born. You can always work and make more money, but you can’t get yourself one more minute of time than the Lord gives you. How much time has the Lord given you? You can’t know that until it’s up, but at that moment, it’s too late. In CT Studd’s famous poem that we are always quoting from, ‘Only One Life, Twill Soon Be Past’, what’s the main element he talks about? Time! On this morning’s Sunday Service, I would like to bring you a message about time, how it’s the most precious resource we have after salvation, and if we will set about ‘redeeming the time’, we can finish well before the Lord.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
