By R. L. Wilson: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 is a challenge to all of us. How do we give thanks “in everything”? Some situations just don’t seem to lend themselves to a thankful spirit. Still, if God has told us to do it, He must have provided us something for which to be thankful. Right?
So my challenge to you this Thanksgiving is to keep your eyes open to see those blessings that are ours. Sometimes we can be thankful because of who (or what) God is. Sometimes we can focus on something He has done for us. Either way, here are some verses to get you thinking and praising:
• Give thanks to the Lord for he is good; his love endures forever. —1 Chr 16:34
• The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. —Psalm 28:7
