A Must-Read Commentary On Todayâs Verse
4:13 asleep. Death for the Christian is considered merely being asleep (John 11:11-14). The sleep, however, applies only to the body, for the soul and spirit are with the Lord (II Corinthians 5:8).
4:13 no hope.. The Christianâs unique âhope,â one that cannot be shared by non-Christians, is the return of Christ for His own, as He had promised. That will be thee great resurrection day when living believers will be reunited with all their loved ones who have died. This great event, in fact, is called the âblessed hope.â (Titus 2:13; I John 3:2-3; I Peter 1:13). They had this promise âby the word of the Lord.â (I Thessalonians 4:15) Himself (John 14:2-3).

âStudy to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.â ~ 2 Timothy 2:15

Synopsis: âThe Bible is a collection of 66 books written by about 40 authors, in three different languages, on three different continents, over approximately 1600 years. The Bible claims to be inspired by God and completely inerrant (without error). "It is the single most reliable and true work of writing extant. Itâs words give us wisdom, believing them makes us safe, and acting on them makes us holy. It contains within its living pages a revelation of the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Itâs doctrines are holy, itâs precepts are binding, itâs stories are true, and itâs decisions are immutable. The Bible contains light to direct us, living water to quench our thirst, and comfort to cheer us in times of despair. Jesus Christ is the grand subject of it all, and everything centers upon him. The Bible is the account of the work of God in history bringing to fruition his prophetic declarations concerning Jesus. Itâs also the account of Jesus Christ, the Word of God, freely giving all mankind a way of reconciliation to God.â » Entire Bible Playlist
