Christian Ministry For The Church Age Found In 2 Corinthians, Not In The Acts Of The Apostles With Its Signs, Miracles And Wonders

Acts is primarily about the acts of the apostles who had the apostolic signs that we do not possess, but 2 Corinthians is the place where Paul tells us how and why we do ministry.

The book of Acts is an amazing book, in it we see the pausing of the Kingdom Age, the start of the Church Age, and the incredible miracles wrought by faithful men who had the signs of the apostles. Acts is primary about the acts of those apostles, never going to deeply into what actual Christian ministry is in the Church Age after those signs, miracles and wonders have ceased. 2 Corinthians, on the other hand, is a book that is chock-full of Church Age Christian ministry instruction and exhortation.

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (KJV)

On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are diving deep into what the apostle Paul has laid out for us as a template for Christians who are called to ministry, and here’s the kicker, if you’re saved you’re called. True, we are not all called to do the same thing, and God puts some very specific callings on certain people, but all saved people are called to be a witness to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 1:16 tells us that Paul is a pattern for us to follow, Paul tells us to follow him, and there you have it. In 2022, this crazy, sin-filled and upside down world in which we find ourselves has some very crazy and unbiblical ways to do what they call ministry, but tonight we will open the pages of our King James Bibles and see what biblical ministry actually is. Whatever level of ministry you are called to, there will be something for everyone, from participant to pastor, to hear and consider.
