The truth is, both monotheism (one God- such as in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) and polytheism (many gods such as in Mormonism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Paganism, etc.) cannot both be true, as those faiths (either side) do not leave the adherents with that option or else invalidating their own theological authority.
