Dr. J. Vernon McGee, Th.D.

Joined With Christ
Synopsis:
Now that youâve received Him, now walk in Him. And that, my friend, is a very wonderful thingâthatâs what it means to walk in the Spirit, you see, today. Learn to walk through this life. And walking is not a balloon ascension. A great many people think the Christian life is some great, overwhelming experience and you take off like a rocket going out into space. Well, thatâs not where you live the Christian life. Itâs in your home, in the office, in the schoolroom, and on the street. And the way you get around is walk. And youâre to walk in Christ today. Oh, that you and I might be joined to Him like that.

About Church of the Open Door
Built in 1914, the 4000-seat Church of the Open Door was conceived by R. A. Torrey who had come to Los Angeles to start a Bible institute (now known as Biola University) similar to Moody Bible Institute. Other pastors have included Louis T. Talbot (1932â1948) and J. Vernon McGee (1949â1970). The church is strictly non-denominational, though Evangelical. Its mission was to reach the lost of Los Angeles, which was reflected in the name âChurch of the Open Doorâ based on two passages of Scripture:
âI am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.â - Jesus Christ, John 10:9 KJV
âI know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.â - Jesus Christ, Revelation 3:8 KJV
âI am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.â - Jesus Christ, John 10:9 KJV
âI know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.â - Jesus Christ, Revelation 3:8 KJV
