Good, bad or indifferent, former U.S. president Donald Trump continues to make news as he appeared in a Georgia jail today to surrender on charges related to attempting to overturn his election loss in 2020. The question is no longer was the election stolen, but did Trump and his team conspire to overturn the results whether they were fraudulent or not? Me personally, I lean to the side that says the election was stolen using sophisticated ‘backdoor’ technology, millions of dollars, rewriting local election laws, and of course, the Transition Integrity Project. Remember that? Yet another ‘conspiracy theory’ that turned out to be ‘right on the money.’

What happens now? Obviously Trump will be the Republican nominee, not a one of the current GOP lineup can lay a glove on him. But as far as winning the general election? That remains a far-outside longshot. The main thing that would be in his favor is if enough Republican voters can get irate enough over the very biased and prejudiced treatment Trump is getting to attract voters who stayed home last time. Donald Trump is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but no matter how that shakes out, he is also being railroaded through this whole ‘banana republic’ process.
