Transcript: 1 Thessalonians 4:11, “And that ye study to be quiet ….” Now, my friend, that’s an interesting one. That’s a commandment for Christians. Study to be quiet. “And to do your own business,” that’s a good one. And actually, it means tend to your own business—“tend to your own knitting” is the way I used to hear it as a boy. Keep your nose out of other people’s affairs. “And to work with your hands, as we commanded you.” And I believe that every Christian ought to have some type of activity whereby he’s doing something that’s tangible for God today. That’s a very wonderful thing, by the way.

About Church of the Open Door
Built in 1914, the 4000-seat Church of the Open Door was conceived by R. A. Torrey who had come to Los Angeles to start a Bible institute (now known as Biola University) similar to Moody Bible Institute. Other pastors have included Louis T. Talbot (1932–1948) and J. Vernon McGee (1949–1970). The church is strictly non-denominational, though Evangelical. Its mission was to reach the lost of Los Angeles, which was reflected in the name ‘Church of the Open Door’ based on two passages of Scripture:
