What Is Faith
Transcript: Now whatâs wrong with Cain? Well, heâs a sinner by nature, but heâs also a sinner by choice and acts. âBy faith,â weâre told, that âAbel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous âŠ.â How? Because he was a nice little Sunday school boy? No, not that at all. He was a sinner, but he responded to the Word of God. And he believed God. And when he believed God, then he was saved. My friend, thatâs what faith is. It connects you to God. It communicates to your heart the Word of God and you respond. And thatâs what conversion is. Itâs to believe God.

About Church of the Open Door
Built in 1914, the 4000-seat Church of the Open Door was conceived by R. A. Torrey who had come to Los Angeles to start a Bible institute (now known as Biola University) similar to Moody Bible Institute. Other pastors have included Louis T. Talbot (1932â1948) and J. Vernon McGee (1949â1970). The church is strictly non-denominational, though Evangelical. Its mission was to reach the lost of Los Angeles, which was reflected in the name âChurch of the Open Doorâ based on two passages of Scripture:
âI am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.â - Jesus Christ, John 10:9 KJV
âI know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.â - Jesus Christ, Revelation 3:8 KJV
