• A proposed amendment adding a right to abortion to the Arkansas constitution will not appear on the November ballot thanks to the Arkansas Supreme Court agreeing that its backers failed to properly file the necessary documentation with their petition signatures.
• Citizens in Missouri will vote on November 5th on whether the right to abortion will be codified into their state constitution.
• Nebraska citizens will vote in November on whether to amend the state constitution regarding abortion rights.
• The city council of Austin, Texas, voted August 14th to use taxpayer funds to pay for citizens to travel for out of state abortions.

I saw the panic in Poland when Russian troops entered Ukraine. Some stockpiled supplies and fuel. Others prepared to leave the country, anticipating that Poland would be invaded next.
Despite unresolved trauma from the 1943—1944 Volhynia Massacre in which Ukrainian nationalists killed tens of thousands of Polish people, Poland opened its borders to more than 1 million Ukrainian refugees escaping the war. After all, Poland remembers Russian forces invading and ruling Polish lands, first as the Russian Empire and later as the Soviet Union after World War II. Jewish people numbered among the thousands of Ukrainians who escaped when Russia entered Ukraine. The Friends of Israel’s representatives in Poland helped many of them leave Ukraine, provided shelter, and oversaw their departure to Israel.

The platform maintains its promises to keep "fighting" parents' efforts to keep pornographic books out of children's hands, expanding abortion nationwide, and promoting transgender procedures for children and prisoners.
Delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Committee in Chicago adopted the revised platform last week inside Chicago's United Center. The final version contains minor modifications from the draft platform, which was released on July 13 and obtained by Politico. At that time, Joe Biden remained the presumptive Democratic Party presidential candidate.
Curiously, the 2024 Democratic Party Platform did not update that previous version's references to the nominee's name: It contains 20 references to 2024 being an election for Joe Biden's "second term." For example, the 2024 platform states, "In his second term, President Biden will continue to support access to FDA-approved medication abortion" and "stand with Ukraine." It contains less than 10 references to Kamala Harris in an individual capacity, rather than conjoined with Joe Biden or as part of the "Biden-Harris administration."

“America has not changed” since the days of segregation, Kamala’s pastor had argued while revisiting the killing of Emmett Till. “This sin of race is so deep, so pervasive in the body politic of America that if we don’t find a remnant to help turn things around, America is going to go down.”
Rev. Amos Brown, a politically influential minister known to some as the Sharpton of San Francisco, had a long history of race-baiting and of accusing America of racism.
“I know America. America is a racist country,” Brown had previously claimed.
“Greed, bigotry and too many whites with this evil, brutal system, built the American economy,” the radical preacher who was a member of the national board of the NAACP argued.
