Here on day 217 of his second term, President Donald Trump continues to mystify and confuse his base with a relentless embracing of all the things one would think to be antithetical to the MAGA Movement. He is creating a police state, building concentration camps, promoting mRNA COVID vaccines to children, and now this. Trump’s administration is filled to overflowing with gay men on every level, so much so they’ve been given a name, the ‘A-Gays’, a nod to the ‘A-Team’ from the ’80’s television fame.
Donald Trump was ushered into office twice by a passionate Christian voting base who wanted to bring morality back to the White House, and that’s exactly what he promised to do. But as time marches on, we see Trump is giving with one hand and taking with the other.
You would think that the millions of MAGA Christian voters would have something to say about this, but instead are largely silent. Silent on the mRNA vaccine, silent on the non-release of the Epstein files, silent as the 6-color rainbow of the LGBTQIA2SL++ comes in through the side door. By om Gilbreath: In a recent interview on Fox and Friends, President Trump gave several reasons for his work to end the war in Ukraine, including this extremely personal one. “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible. I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”
Some characterized the comment as “joking,” but White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “I think the President was serious.”
His theology here is far from perfect, and a lot of evangelicals have been highly critical. But his understanding fits that of most people around the world, and it’s important that we see, in light of scripture, what he got right and what he got wrong. First, he implicitly acknowledged two key fundamental facts about God — He exists, and He rewards. Hebrews 11:6 says, “He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
A decade ago, Mr. Trump said, “I’m not sure I have ever asked God’s forgiveness.” When asked about that in a later interview, he replied, “Why do I have to repent or ask for forgiveness, if I am not making mistakes? I work hard; I’m an honorable person.”
But over time, he has apparently changed his mind on this crucial point. He now seems to understand that he is in a deficit position with God — “not doing well” and “at the bottom of the totem pole.” Jesus spent much of His teaching convincing people of their need for Him — that they are sinners and that they need a Savior. In the Sermon on the Mount, He gave several examples of this, most famously saying that we can be spiritually guilty of sins like murder and adultery because of our thoughts. That hits everyone.
This confirms the concept in Isaiah 53:6. “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way.” We see this concept throughout scripture, never more clearly than in Romans 3:23. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
“The glory of God” is the highest of standards. Only one human ever achieved that level of holiness — the Man who is also God, Jesus Christ. He alone could fulfill His admonishment in Matthew 5:48 (KJV). “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (...)

License Plate Readers: AI Is Building A Profile And Tracking Your Every Move

What used to be a fleeting moment of life on the road has become an entry in a permanent file. That's not science fiction. Only a decade ago, automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) were niche tools for catching stolen cars. Today, they're everywhere--mounted on police cruisers, lining school zones, or bolted to traffic lights. In Westchester County, New York, a network of 480 cameras scanned over 16 million vehicles in a single week earlier this year.
In Virginia, more than 1,000 Flock Safety cameras log plate data daily, some of which has been accessed in immigration enforcement searches despite official restrictions. Even smaller towns are jumping in: Milford, Connecticut, recently deployed 14 solar-powered ALPRs around highways and schools, expanding a local net of surveillance that includes drones and red-light cameras.
The scale is staggering, and it's accelerating. The result is a patchwork system that, stitched together, forms something close to a national surveillance network.

What makes this different from yesterday's traffic cams is artificial intelligence. Companies like Flock, Motorola Solutions, and PlateSmart aren't just snapping plates anymore. Their systems use AI to flag "suspicious" driving patterns, identify vehicles by make, model, and bumper stickers, and stitch together a car's travel history.
Once the data is centralized, it doesn't just say who was where. It builds a profile: who goes to a gun shop every Saturday, who visits a cancer clinic weekly, who pulls into a particular church every Sunday. Authorities announced this week that a Lake Tahoe area resident tested positive for plague after likely being bitten by an infected flea while camping in the South Lake Tahoe area. El Dorado County health officials confirmed Tuesday that this marks the first human case in the county since 2020. The patient has been treated and is recovering at home. Health officials believe the infection occurred during outdoor activities in the South Lake Tahoe region, highlighting the ongoing presence of plague in California’s natural environments.
While many associate the plague with medieval Europe’s “Black Death,” the bacterium Yersinia pestis never disappeared. Over the course of human history, the three-micrometer-long Yersinia pestis has claimed an estimated 200 million human lives, making it the most acute infectious disease during our species’ short time on this planet.
The disease first arrived in North America at the turn of the 20th century. The invention and popularization of the steamship at the turn of the 20th century drastically reduced the travel times of transoceanic voyages. This suddenly made global transmission of plague a real threat. Y. pestis arrived on the western coast of the U.S. in March 1900, where it infected upward of 280 people and killed more than 60 percent of them.
The western United States provides an ideal environment for plague persistence. A 2021 study suggests that the arid soil biochemistry offers a perfect environment for the bacteria, which is why most cases are found in New Mexico and Arizona, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Lake Tahoe region is particularly susceptible. A 2015 study shows that the disease flourishes in higher elevations, but not higher than roughly 6,500 feet, likely due to habitat availability. Lake Tahoe rests at around 6,200 feet in elevation. (...)
