Both Jesus and Paul tell us that the kingdom we are a part of, the Kingdom of God, is not a government of this world but rather a spiritual kingdom in Heaven.
Jesus told his followers that the kingdom they represented was “not of this world”, and that they should not seek dominion of or through earthly government or armies. When Jesus commissioned Paul on the road to Damascus, He told him that he would testify before Jews, Gentiles and Kings, but that he would be separate. Not a single person in the New Testament joins forces with the government in order to “bring in the kingdom”. So why do we think we could do that in our day?
