At least 750,000 people were expelled by militias and the Israeli military or fled as the conflicts grew. Most of those who were displaced believed they would return in a few days or weeks. Five generations later, these people and their descendants still live with insecurity and uncertainty and are unable to return home.“Palestine” has supposedly been “uprooted.” Here is a question: How can you uproot something that never existed?
The exhibition Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present explores the human rights violations related to the ongoing forced displacement and dispossession of Palestinians. Featuring personal stories told through objects and video testimonies, the exhibition presents Palestinian Canadians reflecting on their ongoing struggle for justice and human rights. Together with art, photos, and text, these elements reveal enduring patterns of loss and resistance.

However, during her first formal assessment, she withdrew the request decisively, citing personal and religious convictions. She explicitly chose inpatient hospice or palliative sedation instead -- options that honored her desire to live out her final days naturally.
Her husband, crushed by what he called "caregiver burnout" and frustrated by a denied hospice placement, refused to honor her decision. The very next day, he demanded a second assessment. In a horrifying rush, the new assessor dismissed the first practitioner's explicit warnings: concerns about coercion, the patient's sudden reversal, and the absence of any true medical emergency. A third virtual approval followed like a rubber stamp. Assessments conducted in her husband's presence sealed her fate. That same evening, Mrs. B was euthanized -- a grotesque, single-day execution against her clearly stated will.
An official Ontario MAiD Death Review Committee report exposed the litany of failures of this case: superficial scrutiny of her vulnerability, blatant disregard for manipulation and viable alternatives, and eroded safeguards that let external pressures extinguish an innocent life. Stripped to its essence, this is the brutal reality: Her husband -- however burdened -- effectively discarded his wife's life because he no longer wanted the responsibility. The report itself concluded that the assisted suicide occurred "against her will."

“Today we remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust, the millions of stories of individual bravery and heroism, and one of the enduring lessons of one of the darkest chapters in human history: that while humans create beautiful things and are full of compassion, we’re also capable of unspeakable brutality. And we promise never again to go down the darkest path,” Vance tweeted.
Tablet, a right-leaning American Jewish publication, reposted the VP’s tweet, responding snarkily, “Thank you Mr. Vice President for this unique commemoration of the Holocaust that manages to avoid mentioning Jews or condemning Nazis.”
The omission was grievous. While the Holocaust and, indeed, all of World War Two were global tragedies, Holocaust Memorial Day emphasizes the significance for Jews. The German efforts at the “Final Solution” resulted in the murder of six million Jews, the genocide of two-thirds of the European Jewish population, reducing the global population from 16.6 million to less than 11 million by 1945. As of 2025–2026, the global Jewish population is still lower than it was in 1939. By comparison, there are about 14.8 million Jews alive today, according to the Pew Research Center.

The original narrative the media passed out claimed that Pretti was assaulted for no reason by federal immigration enforcement officers while trying to help a woman who had fallen down. Why was he carrying a gun? Suddenly every hardened gun-grabber became a Second Amendment enthusiast and argued we had no right to question that.
Then it came out that Alex Pretti had been in another violent confrontation with federal law enforcement recently in which he had broken a rib.

By Leo Hohmann: As of February 1, the Trump administration’s crackdown on non-compliant American citizens flying without a federal government-approved REAL ID will result in them being charged an extra fee of $45 and being forced to hand over their biometric data.
Beginning February 1, travelers who arrive at a checkpoint without compliant identification will have the option of paying a $45 fee and undergoing an additional “modernized” verification process, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
The website Biometric Update reports that Acting TSA Director Ha Nguyen McNeill provided the following information:
“Travelers who do not present an acceptable form of ID at TSA checkpoints and still want to fly, have the option of paying a $45 fee and undergoing the TSA ConfirmID process,” McNeill said.
