We Went From ‘Operation Epic Fury’ To An ‘Economic D-Day’ As Donald Trump Desperately Searches For A Victory His War Against Iran Failed To Deliver
The headlines coming out of the Iran war today confirm that Donald Trump’s promised victory has become a strategic defeat unfolding before the entire world. What began in hubris as Operation Epic Fury has sadly morphed into Economic D-Day as Trump’s dreams of an easy victory has turned to dust. After nearly six months of American bombing, Iran is now threatening 46 commercial ships with detention or confiscation, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has collapsed from more than 130 daily passages to approximately 16, and Tehran is negotiating with Oman over shipping lanes and the collection of transit fees. Trump entered this war promising to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program, dismantle its missile forces, reopen Hormuz and bring the Islamic Republic to its knees. Instead, the regime remains standing, its missiles remain operational, its nuclear ambitions remain unresolved and its control over the world’s most important energy chokepoint is stronger than it was before the first American bomb fell. Iran did not need to defeat the United States on the battlefield; it only needed to survive long enough to expose the limits of American power. Donald Trump has made this war all about him, and that’s exactly how history will remember it. They will say “Trump did this”, and they’ll be right.
Donald Trump has abandoned the language of imminent military victory and replaced it with Scott Bessent’s ridiculous promise of an “Economic D-Day,” an admission that the bombs never produced the surrender Washington demanded. Iran’s currency is collapsing and its people are suffering terribly, but economic misery is not the decisive American triumph Trump promised. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is diverting so many forces into this expanding Middle East quagmire that a major military exercise with South Korea has reportedly been canceled, weakening American readiness against China and North Korea. The self-proclaimed “president of peace” has spent tens of billions of dollars, wounded hundreds of American service members and killing 18, disrupted the global economy and reduced American military flexibility—only to leave Iran standing defiantly at the gates of Hormuz. Trump may call it maximum pressure, economic warfare or “D-Day,” but the world sees exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to manufacture victory after his war failed to deliver one.

By Breanna Claussen: The goals of Turkey are not shrouded in mystery. Turkish President Recep Erdoğan and officials within the nation have spent years openly calling for the invasion and annihilation of Israel as well as the “liberation” of Jerusalem from the Jews.
In a fiery speech, Erdoğan recently called for an end to the Jewish State and the “Promised Land delusion.”
“With Allah’s permission, we will never allow this,” he declared, adding that Israel’s destruction is the “duty of humanity.”
In efforts to carry out that objective, Turkey is working to position itself in Syria, moving incrementally toward the border of the Jewish State.
Israel recently watched as a Turkish delegation visited the Abu Al-Duhur airbase, which was considered one of the largest bases in Syria before it was abandoned in 2013, and sits 43 miles from the border of Turkey and less than 200 miles from Israeli communities. Israeli intelligence learned of Turkish plans to station radar and defense systems on the base in addition to the immediate deployment of Turkish troops.

A Church Was Vandalized By A Muslim Arab In Jaffa; The Media Blamed Jews Anyway

But what the media didn’t report was that the suspect arrested for that crime was a Muslim Arab. Almost no one reported that. Major Israeli outlets paired the arrest with unrelated cases of Jewish-perpetrated harassment, Catholic media built an entire narrative of Jewish persecution of Christians in Israel around the suspect’s unstated identity, and American commentators with millions of followers carried the same libel forward, as they had done in several previous cases. The pattern is neither new nor accidental.
A man in his twenties was arrested Sunday on suspicion of vandalizing St. Anthony of Padua Church, a Catholic parish in the Jaffa neighborhood of Tel Aviv. Police said several statues had been smashed and a number of crosses broken. Officers identified a suspect and took him into custody shortly thereafter. St. Anthony of Padua belongs to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Police have not released the suspect’s name, and no formal charges have been announced.

His administration is preparing what Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has called the "toughest sanctions in history," targeting Iran's oil revenues, financial networks and countries that continue doing business with Tehran. Trump himself recently described the approach as "low-keying it," signaling that, at least for now, he prefers economic warfare to another major round of strikes.
That strategy requires something Washington believes it has: time.
Iran may be reaching exactly the opposite conclusion.
If Tehran believes the sanctions campaign will steadily weaken its economy, limit its ability to rebuild damaged military capabilities and increase internal pressure, then waiting until winter could leave it with fewer options than it has today.
And hanging over both calculations are two dates: Israel holds its national election on October 27. The United States holds its midterm elections exactly one week later, on November 3.
That creates a potentially explosive window in which Washington has powerful reasons to avoid escalation--and Tehran may have powerful reasons to provoke it.
