Understanding The Times With Jan Markell

Jan Markell was saved under Jewish evangelist Hyman Appleman when she was a child. In Jan’s early ministry years she was a part of the Messianic movement, worked for pro-Israel agencies, and for Jewish evangelism ministries. In the year 2000, Jan launched a radio branch of the ministry starting first on AM980 KKMS, Minneapolis/St. Paul. In 2004, the program was syndicated nationally and is heard internationally on the Internet. “Understanding the Times” radio has been received well as a source of news and information hard to find. “Understanding the Times” is interview and commentary-driven.

Last Thursday we saw the Boy Scouts capitulate and for the first time in their history allow for open homosexuals in the program at the pre-18 age level. As a followup, this Crosstalk presented audio excerpts from the press conference that followed the vote.

The guest who joined Jim to discuss this topic was Peter LaBarbera, the president of Americans for Truth.

Jim and Peter also focused on the State of Illinois where homosexual activists hope to make that state the 13th one to sanction same sex marriage.

Another important item on the agenda for this Crosstalk involved looking back 25 years at the essay/manifesto by Michael Swift that contains the goals of the homosexual movement.

A woman is a special vessel designed by God to bring forth life and to nurture it. So for women, their position in regard to the Bible isn’t about being “equal” but about being special and men are to bring honor to them as the weaker vessel.

How does that play out in regard to the protection of our nation? For example, the U.S. Department of Defense has decided to let women serve on the front lines of combat and possibly include them in any future draft.

Does the desire for equal combat opportunity by some women comport with what the Bible says is God’s desire for them? Pope Takes Anti-Gay Marriage Stance To A New Level

Denounces People Manipulating God-given Gender to Suit Sexual Choices

He said God had created man and woman as a specific “duality” — “an essential aspect of what being human is all about.”

The Daily Caller/VATICAN CITY (AP) — The pope pressed his opposition to gay marriage Friday, denouncing what he described as people manipulating their God-given identities to suit their sexual choices — and destroying the very “essence of the human creature” in the process.

Benedict XVI made the comments in his annual Christmas address to the Vatican bureaucracy, one of his most important speeches of the year. He dedicated it this year to promoting traditional family values in the face of vocal campaigns in France, the United States, Britain and elsewhere to legalize same-sex marriage.

In his remarks, Benedict quoted the chief rabbi of France, Gilles Bernheim, in saying the campaign for granting gays the right to marry and adopt children was an “attack” on the traditional family made up of a father, mother and children.

“People dispute the idea that they have a nature, given to them by their bodily identity, that serves as a defining element of the human being,” he said. “They deny their nature and decide that it is not something previously given to them, but that they make it for themselves.”

“The manipulation of nature, which we deplore today where our environment is concerned, now becomes man’s fundamental choice where he himself is concerned,” he said.

[...] The Socialist government’s plan also envisions legalizing same-sex adoptions. Benedict quoted Bernheim as denouncing the plan, saying that it would mean a child would essentially be considered an object people have a right to obtain.

“When freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Maker himself is denied and ultimately man too is stripped of his dignity as a creature of God,” Benedict said. » Read More
