Today, the U.S. national debt stands at $16.9 trillion as the U.S. Congress is being pressured by President Obama to raise the debt ceiling under threat to shut down the government (which he will then blame on the Republicans). Conservative Republican/Tea Party congressmen and senators are currently seeking to fund the government while only defunding the socializing of American medicine, i.e., Obamacare.
