FORMER U.S. PROSECUTOR LAYS OUT THE CASE FOR OBAMA IMPEACHMENT

Informing and Equipping Americans Who Love Freedom

The Threat Is “So Egregious It Requires Action”

B. Christopher Agee, Western Journalism — A brand new book promises to incite even more debate regarding whether Obama could – or should – face impeachment for any of the various scandals and alleged cover-ups that have plagued his presidency.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy’s “Faithless Execution,” which is set to hit bookstores next month, has already begun to attract media attention – especially among the largely sympathetic forces behind conservative alternative outlets.

According to recent reports, McCarthy offers a number of reasons he claims impeachment would be a justifiable pursuit against Obama.

His “rampant lawlessness represents a systematic threat to our constitutional order,” McCarthy writes, noting that the threat is “so egregious it requires action.”

More specifically, he cites the implementation of ObamaCare as one key aspect of a potential impeachment effort.

McCarthy asserts that Obama committed “fraud on the American people” when he “deliberately misled” voters regarding his healthcare intentions.

Furthermore, Obama’s response to the botched gun-walking operation that armed Mexican criminals is another scandal the author believes rises to the threshold of potential impeachment proceedings.

According to McCarthy, Obama engaged in “systematic politicization of a Department of Justice that has covered up the Fast & Furious scandal.”

A third issue, which is now garnering some added attention with the appointment of a U.S. House select committee dedicated to its investigation, is the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

McCarthy described the “grossly inadequate security” provided by the Obama administration at the embassy as a “dereliction of duty as commander in chief,” offering yet another potential avenue through which prosecutors could move to impeach him.

The idea of removing Obama from office has been a consistent refrain among his political detractors. Whether the quest is feasible or not, McCarthy’s forthcoming book promises to deliver a coherent case for the entity willing to pursue it. » Full Article

CONGRESSMAN: AR-15 A ‘SYMBOL OF LIBERTY’

America’s Independent News Network

Also Warns U.S. Must Rip Obamacare
'Out By The Roots' To Avoid 'Economic Meltdown'

WND TV, Radio America — Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., says he is the only true constitutional conservative in the Republican race for U.S. Senate in his state, and he vows to be a tireless champion for creating jobs, ending deficits and repealing Obamacare.

The congressman also identifies himself as a staunch defender of Americans’ Second Amendment rights and is even awarding an AR-15 as a prize from his campaign. Accused by one of his opponents of using “gimmickry” with the AR-15, Broun said at a time when he believes President Obama is actively trying to restrict gun rights, it is important to make his views crystal clear.

“It’s not a gimmick. It’s just a means of getting my supporters all across this nation to understand that I’m fighting for liberty. Guns have always been a symbol of liberty,” he told Radio America’s Greg Corombos.

Listen to WND’s interview with Paul Broun below:

Broun also said his most prominent challengers either have no conservative record or lack consistency in backing conservative principles.

The wide-open race started last year when Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced he would not seek a third term. Eight GOP candidates are seeking the nomination, but early polling suggests four of them appear to have the strongest odds. In addition to Broun, fellow Republican Reps. Jack Kingston and Phil Gingrey are in the race, along with former Secretary of State Karen Handel.

Media reports in Georgia suggest the candidates largely hold the same positions and differ only in nuance. Broun begs to differ.

“All the candidates in this race can be categorized into three different groups. There’s one group, and (Handel’s) a part of it, that claims to be conservative but has absolutely zero record to back that claim up.

“In fact there’s some things in the past where she has supported funding for Planned Parenthood. That’s not conservative,” he said.

“There’s a second category of candidates that claims to be conservative, but their record does not back up a consistent conservative position.

“That’s where Kingston and Gingrey fall,” Broun said. “And there’s one candidate, me, who has a proven, consistent, constitutional voting record.”

When asked to point to votes where he was a “consistent” conservative and Kingston and Gingrey were not, Broun pointed primarily to spending issues.

“Both of them have been huge earmarkers,” he argued. “In fact, at one time, Jack Kingston had more earmarks than all of the Republican delegation from Georgia put together. Both of them have voted for expansion of government under George W. Bush. As an example, Dr. Gingrey told me one of the proudest votes he’s made was expansion of Medicare with Part D.

“Both of them have voted for bigger and bigger government programs.

“Both of them have voted to raise the debt ceiling. I have never voted to raise the debt ceiling. I’ve never voted for a stimulus package,” Broun said.

“I’ve never voted for a bailout. They have.”

Broun explained that he brings a very specific approach to any vote, an approach he believes would help America avoid many of our national problems.

“There are four questions that I ask about all legislation. All four have to be yes before I vote yes. The first is, ‘Is it constitutional according to the original intent? Is it one of the 18 enumerated powers in Article I, Section 8?’ The second question, ‘Is it right?’

He continued, “Does it fit the Judeo-Christian biblical principles that our nation was founded upon?’ The third question is, ‘Do we need it?’ Fourth, ‘Can we afford it?’

“If all four are yes, I vote yes. I’ve done that for six-and-a-half years. If one (of the answers) is no, I vote no. I’ve been that way for six-and-a-half years. I’m the only candidate in this race that has a proven true conservative record. I also have legislation to back that up,” he said.

Broun points to three specific bills he is sponsoring that he contends would boost job creation and tackle our debt problem. First, he says his approach to repealing and replacing Obamacare is the only one that would completely remove government bureaucrats from the health-care system.

“We’ve got to rip this out by the roots and replace it with my Patient Option Act. Otherwise our children are not going to have jobs when they get out of school,” he said. “We’re going to have a poor economy. We’re going to have an economic meltdown in this country if we don’t stop this out-of-control government and out-of-control spending that both parties are guilty of doing.”

He also said he would revitalize manufacturing in this country by working to remove the onerous federal regulations that are stifling innovation and expansion. In tackling the debt, he said his simple approach would be effective in reducing red ink.

“The government must live within its means,” Broun said. “We’ve got to balance our budget. I’ve got the strongest balanced budget that’s been introduced in Congress. It caps spending. It makes it very difficult for Congress to raise taxes, and those are the two problems with almost every other balanced budget amendment that’s been introduced.”

The Republican U.S. Senate primary is scheduled for May 20. If no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote, the top two finishers will advance to a runoff in July. Michelle Nunn, daughter of former Democratic Sen. Sam Nunn is the overwhelming favorite to win the Democratic nomination. » Full Article

PALIN: CHINA WILL BE ‘FOREIGN MASTER’ IF AMERICA DOESN’T RESOLVE DEBT CRISIS

Sarah Palin Compared the U.S.’ Debt To Slavery

Tony Lee, Breitbart — On Saturday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin compared the United States' debt to slavery, warning Americans about the dangers of being "beholden" to China if the nation's debt crisis is not resolved.

Speaking at an Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition event to kick off the 2014 midterm season, Palin said the country's "free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China."

"It's going to be like slavery when that note is due," Palin said of the debt the country is accumulating. "We're going to be beholden to a foreign master... because there is no plan coming out of Washington, D.C. to stop the incurrence of debt, is there?"

Palin said that "all we're hearing about is why we need to grow more debt" when lawmakers in Washington should know to stop digging when stuck in a hole while the country is headed down "the road to bankruptcy."

Palin was speaking at an event that honored Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT). » Full Article

DC GRIDLOCK: GET USED TO IT

Does Anyone Still Believe Anything Obama Says?

Alan Caruba, Guest Contributor — Oh, what a relief! Now we know that the government will be funded through January 15 and that we can wait until February 7 to fight the debt ceiling battle all over again. Three months to the next potential shutdown and four until the Democrats and Republicans go to the mattresses again like a scene from The Godfather.

Only idiots would run a government with a $17 trillion debt this way.

Politico.com reported that “President Barack Obama welcomed the end of the government shutdown and the raising of the debt limit Thursday with a call for the end of crisis-to-crisis governing and a new era of bipartisan cooperation.”

Does anyone still believe anything Obama says?

The deal struck between Sens. Reid (R-NV) and McConnell (D-KY) allowed the latter to secure $2 billion for a project in Kentucky and no doubt there is plenty of pork in the bill to keep everyone happy, except for those senators who weren’t able to get a piece of the bribe money.

“There is no distinctly criminal class,” said Mark Twain, “except Congress.”

What have we learned from the last three weeks? We learned that President Obama has no intention to negotiate with the Republicans and regards the Democrats in Congress as little more than rubber stamps for whatever he wants. And they seem to agree. While the Democrats showed considerable solidarity, the Republicans were tearing themselves to tatters.

We learned that President Obama, with an eye on the November 2014 midterm elections, is already in full battle mode as he and his huge propaganda machine—the media and the former campaign committee-turned-social-media-megaphone—ramp up the message that the Tea Party is composed of rightwing fanatics and the Republicans are not much better.

Given the great “success” of Obamacare, can you imagine spending the last two years of Obama’s time in office if he is able to so demonize the Republicans that they lose control of the House and cannot gain control or at least a larger margin of members in the Senate?

I jest, of course. Obamacare is the greatest gift ever handed to the Republicans.

As millions of Americans discover that their health insurance premiums have increased 100% to 300%, they will be howling for its repeal by November 2014. The younger, healthier members of society will elect to pay the fine for not signing up. Some people will discover they cannot be admitted to the hospital of their choice or that their personal physician has retired or closed their practice. Others will find their fulltime jobs reduced to part-time, if they haven’t already.

There are going to be a lot of very unhappy voters by the time the midterms roll around and that, ladies and gents, is why the Republicans “caved” this time and will likely do so again because I have a feeling that their strategy will be to fight a lot of small, but losing battles around the various deadlines required to fund the government and lift the debt ceiling. Each time they do the latter, they will remind everyone that Obama keeps demanding more money.

As for Rep. John Boehner, Speaker of the House, he was greeted with a round of applause by the Republican caucus when he announced the deal to end the shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. It wasn’t that they hadn’t lost, but that they understood he had fought their battle with dignity and as far as he could, given the lack of unity among GOP House members.

The memory of World War Two and Vietnam veterans, as well as others from more recent conflicts being denied access to their memorials on the National Mall or of the first closure of the Lincoln Memorial ever is going to linger. Barricades have now been renamed “Barrycades.”

The President has managed to offend veterans, the elderly (who vote in larger numbers), the unions who hate Obamacare, Catholics, and a younger generation already saddled with debt from college who are being told they must dig deeper to pay for health insurance they don’t want and probably don’t need.

Obamacare is profoundly unconstitutional. Forget about the Supreme Court’s idiotic decision to call a penalty a “tax” and ignore the other elements of the Constitution that forbid the government from requiring people to pay for health insurance or pay a fine if they do not. The Court has made similar bad decisions in the past and, as some current scholars believe, has become so politicized that it has been eviscerating the clear intent of the Constitution for decades.

Only significant Republican victories in the midterm elections will end the misery being inflicted on Americans. That is likely to occur in spite of the GOP’s poor messaging and the hostility of the nation’s mainstream media.

Taxpayers and voters are in for months of gridlock on Capitol Hill. Get used to it. » Full Article

Linkster’s thoughts:
The above quote is quite ironic given the fact that Obama is actively engaged in destroying the second amendment of the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution, at minimum, severely infringing upon that right, i.e., “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, [which] shall not be infringed.” In the aftermath of the Newtown shooting tragedy in Connecticut, Obama stated this: “If gun control saves one child, it’s worth it.”

Why is saving one child’s life from gun violence any different from saving one child’s life from cancer? Something is very askew in what the main stream media are telling Americans. Harry Reid’s words above should send a chill through the blood of every American that will be forced into Obamacare.

LAWMAKER TO OBAMA: ‘YOU’RE NOT A DICTATOR’

“You Don’t Get To Impose Your Will.
We Negotiate Everything In Washington”

WND TV, Radio America — Congressional Republicans should absolutely fight to defund Obamacare in a fight over funding the federal government and President Obama has no right to demand a debt ceiling extension without Republicans demanding spending restraint in return, according to Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C.

Current government funding expires at the end of September. The GOP is divided over whether to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government at current spending rates across the board or to fund everything at current rates while completely defunding Obamacare. Many conservative members of the House and Senate are pushing to cut off funds, while leadership has been very cool to the idea.

Mulvaney said starving Obamacare makes perfect sense, and there are enough members committed to this course of action to force the issue.

“I don’t think the support exists within the Republican Party now to not fight. We have to fight,” Mulvaney said. “It’s not just folks you might think of ordinarily, the extreme right wing of the party. It’s a lot of the guys more in the center who are hearing from their districts back home that folks don’t want to fund Obamacare. I can’t imagine us not dealing with Obamacare in some fashion as part of this discussion.”

With Democrats controlling the U.S. Senate and President Obama likely to veto any funding bill that removes funding from Obamacare, Mulvaney admits it’s an uphill climb. But he said conservatives might able to make some progress through this maneuver, and it shouldn’t be that hard to explain to the public.

“The marketing there is very simple. We don’t want to shut the government down. We should send a bill over to the Senate and the president that says we’re going to keep every single part of this government open, except the part of it that doesn’t exist yet in Obamacare,” he said. “We do lousy messaging most of the time. That’s why we might even be able to win.

“We might be able to get some wins. For example, we might get the IRS out of health care. We might be able to change the rules on the conscience provisions within the HHS mandate regarding employers who object to contraception and abortion based upon their religious principles. We might get rid of this IPAB. We might get rid of the medical device taxes. There’s a lot of small victories we could get, but we’re not going to get them if our opening bid is to fund the whole bill,” he said.

By mid-October, regardless of how the budgeting battle unfolds, the debt ceiling will be breached and another major battle is expected. President Obama is trying to head off a repeat of 2011 by saying he refuses to make any concessions in exchange for a debt ceiling increase because he contends paying America’s bills should not be held hostage to demands of spending restraints. That position is a nonstarter for Mulvaney.

“You hate to diminish the office of president of the United States by calling him silly, but that’s just silly. We negotiate everything on this. You don’t get to impose your will. You’re not a dictator. You’re not an emperor. We negotiate everything in Washington, D.C., and for him to say he’s not going to negotiate this is one of the more absurd things I’ve heard him say out of a lot of absurd things I’ve heard him say,” Mulvaney said.

“If he’s serious about it, it means he wants to tank the entire economy, which is just bizarre. I’m surprised that more people are not calling him out on that. We have always used the debt ceiling for improving our spending condition. It’s the one time when people get a chance to step back and say, ‘Why do we have a debt problem?’ This is our chance to at least make it a little better,” he said.

Obama and many other Democrats contend that nearly $17 trillion in debt and much more unfunded liabilities is not a threat to the economy as long as annual debt comprises a small enough percentage of the gross domestic product. Mulvaney finds that approach appalling.

“I’ve run numbers that say within my lifetime, under some fairly reasonable assumptions, every single penny that we take in as a nation will go to one thing and one thing only and that is interest payments on the debt,” Mulvaney said. “You tell me if that’s dire. I think we both know that it is.” » Full Article

On ‘National Debt’

Today, the U.S. national debt stands at $16.9 trillion as the U.S. Congress is being pressured by President Obama to raise the debt ceiling under threat to shut down the government (which he will then blame on the Republicans). Conservative Republican/Tea Party congressmen and senators are currently seeking to fund the government while only defunding the socializing of American medicine, i.e., Obamacare.

UNHEARD OF: U.S. DEBT STUCK AT $16.7 TRILLION FOR 109 DAYS!

What Sneaky Tricks
Are Keeping This Clock From Ticking?

Garth Kant, WND There are just 52 days until the United States government runs out of money.

Maybe.

Even the secretary of the Treasury isn’t quite sure.

One thing is certain: With the passing of August, the official accounting of the U.S. debt has remained stuck at exactly $16,699,396,000,000 for another month – and, as of Wednesday, 109 days in a row.

The debt has been frozen at that amount because of an accounting trick Treasury Secretary Jack Lew calls “extraordinary measures.”

Those measures have prevented the government from defaulting on its obligations and allowed it to keep borrowing for 108 days, while keeping the official debt just $25 million below the legal debt limit set by Congress of $16,699,421,000,000.

Join WND’s campaign to stop Washington’s borrowing and spending madness cold!

Out of cash

But Lew knows those extraordinary measures cannot last forever, and the clock is ticking. But Lew doesn’t exactly know when midnight will strike.

One month ago, Lew estimated he could keep borrowing until Oct. 11, the last day Congress is in session before the Columbus Day recess.

But last week, he revised his estimate to an imprecise “middle of October” deadline before the federal government can no longer borrow the money it needs to keep running.

Lew has sent three letters to House Speak John Boehner, R-Ohio, to explain the extraordinary situation since May, when federal borrowing hit the legal debt limit.

The most recent letter, sent Aug. 26, revealed the U.S. will be down to just $50 billion actual cash on hand by the middle of October.

That’s all that will be left to fund Social Security, Medicare, federal employee salaries and other obligations included in the 80 million payments the federal government makes each month.

But it would not be enough.

The latest round of the dilemma began May 17, when Lew wrote to Boehner to inform him, having nearly hit the debt limit, the Treasury Department would begin using more extraordinary measures, such as suspending certain pension contributions, to “free up approximately $260 billion in headroom under the limit.”

How We Got Here

The national debt continues to rise because the U.S. Treasury spends more money than it brings in through taxes, fees and other revenue.

The difference between spending and revenue, or annual deficit, is much smaller this year, but it is still expected to be around $600 billion for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30.

The U.S. government actually hit its $16.4-trillion debt limit at the end of last year, but the Treasury Department began using the extraordinary measures to help delay default until Congress agreed to suspend the debt limit through May 18.

The next day, the debt limit was raised to almost $16.7 trillion.

Lew then announced a way to allow the government to pay its bills until September.

Taxpayer-owned Fannie Mae would make a one-time dividend payment of nearly $60 billion to the U.S. government.

Thanks to a housing market recovery, the fortunes of the bailed-out housing finance corporation had improved enough to pay the dividend after posting a record first-quarter profit.

Lew had thought the Treasury Department would stop using the extraordinary measures on Aug. 2.

But on that day, he wrote another letter to Boehner, explaining his new estimate was the government would need to keep using the measures until Oct. 11 to keep borrowing without exceeding the legal limit.

Want to stop passing on debt to our children and grandchildren? The only option – the only game in town – is this “No More Red Ink” campaign.

The Politics Of Money

In that letter, Lew also recommended Congress increase the debt ceiling, warning of drastic consequences if it did not do so.

“I respectfully urge Congress to protect America’s good credit and avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of failing to act by increasing the debt limit in a timely fashion,” Lew wrote.

Then Lew sent Boehner another letter on Aug. 26 saying Treasury could keep borrowing until “the middle of October” and also warning the speaker the government would no longer be able to pay its bills after mid-October unless Congress raised the debt ceiling.

Lew is pleading with lawmakers to raise the debt limit again, because a last-minute deal to do so in 2011 led to the first-ever downgrade of the U.S. credit rating and automatic budget cuts on March 1 known as the sequester.

Analysts fear, if the value of Treasury securities come into question because the U.S. is not paying its bills, the bond and stock markets could dive.

Also looming, the White House and Congress must decide on a separate agreement on how to fund government operations beyond Sept. 30.

Failure to do so could cause a partial government shutdown.

Additionally, many conservatives are pledging to support bills keeping essential operations running while providing no funds for the implementation of Obamacare.

Blame Congress

The White House is blaming government spending on Congress and says it will refuse to even consider adhering to the debt limit.

“We will not negotiate with Republicans in Congress over Congress’ responsibility to pay the bills that Congress has racked up, period,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney last week.

Boehner has pledged to support raising the debt ceiling only if accompanied by an even greater amount of cuts in spending, and is predicting “a whale of a fight” with President Obama over the debt ceiling.

“I wish I could tell you it was going to be pretty and polite, and it would all be finished a month before we’d ever get to the debt ceiling. Sorry, it just doesn’t work that way,” Boehner observed.

“If this were easy to do, somebody over the last 20 or 30 years would have gotten it done. We’re going to do it this fall,” he promised.

The Stopped Clock

The public first became aware the debt limit had not officially changed for weeks back in July, when Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., wondered whether the government was “cooking the books.”

As WND reported, when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testified before the House Financial Services Committee, Bachmann asked how there could be no increase reported in the total debt when the government was racking up about $4 billion a day in new debt.

When he could not provide an answer and referred her to the Treasury Department, Bachmann wondered if there was a political motive.

“I asked whether the Treasury Department was cooking the federal government’s books as it was reported that the Feds debt balance sheet remained at $16,699,396,000,000 for 56 days straight, presumably so the Treasury Department wouldn’t officially register that once again the Congress had exceeded its legal borrowing limits.”

For it to conveniently stay there for 56 straight days, Bachmann implied, strained credulity.

The lawmaker noted during the hearing the U.S. government added more than $400 million in debt during Bernanke’s appearance alone.

“Knowing that, how could he explain the Treasury balance sheet officially stood still for 56 days? Apparently, ignorance is bliss, for bureaucrats,” she concluded. » Full Article

Obama Schedules Potentially ‘Catastrophic’ Debt-Ceiling ‘Fiscal Cliff II’ for February

Neil Munro, The Daily Caller — President Barack Obama scheduled another so-called “fiscal cliff” crisis for February by announcing late Jan. 1 he would refuse to negotiate any curbs on his use of the nation’s maxed-out credit card.

“I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether or not they should pay the bills that they’ve already racked up through the laws that they passed,” he claimed during a late-night appearance on the last-minute resolution to the December 2012 fiscal cliff.

However, the GOP-led Congress wants to use its authority over the nation’s debt ceiling to pressure Obama to shrink future spending, not to repudiate existing debts.

Obama is expected to add $3.4 trillion to the national debt by 2017. In his first term, he boosted the national debt by $5.8 trillion, up to $16.4 trillion.

But on Dec. 31, his government hit the $16.4 trillion limit agreed by Congress and Obama in 2011.

[...] The debt is expected to reach almost $20 trillion by 2016 — equivalent to $80,000 for each working-age American — and then climb to almost $23 trillion by 2022.

Current tax revenues are enough to pay roughly 70 percent of federal bills, which include the interest payments on the existing debt.

Obama wants to borrow even more money — roughly $850 billion per year — to expand government and operate many additional programs.

These programs include large green-tech subsidies, massive government-run healthcare programs and expensive welfare programs for healthy, working-age people. » Read More
