FREE SPEECH IS DEAD: OREGON BANS CRITICISM OF OBAMACARE EXCHANGES

U.S. Constitution
Bill of Rights - Amendment 1
‘Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression’
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Linkster’s Thoughts:
If all speech were polite speech the founding fathers would never have written a free speech right into the Constitution... there would be no need to protect polite speech. No, the first amendment is to protect dissenting voices, sentiments and opposing opinions, disagreements, criticisms, etc... especially from the majority.

Greg Campbell, TPNN Political Analyst — Cover Oregon, the Oregon counterpart to Obamacare, is cracking down on dissent. Noting the lackluster support Obamacare is receiving in the Beaver State, as well as the nation as a whole, Cover Oregon is requiring that any “community partners” that wish to do business with the healthcare exchange must surrender their First Amendment protections and swear to refrain from any remarks that may be critical to the Oregon program.

In order for to do any sort of business with Cover Oregon, they must sign a far-reaching non-disparagement agreement that forbids the signee from saying anything remotely negative or disparaging about the Obamacare exchange. If state officials decide that someone has spoken unfavorably about the Obamacare exchange, that business or organization can have their grant money revoked.

The move is a chilling reminder of how government operates now. Whereas once disagreement was looked upon as a healthy, if not at time frustrating, aspect of our Republic, both state and federal governments have become more hostile to dissent and have been willing to wield the power of government and their regulatory agencies to limit, squash or otherwise punish dissent.

In Oregon, streets and highways are adorned with a tremendous amount of billboards advocating “Cover Oregon”- Oregon’s Obamacare. Driving down I-5, one sees the familiar faces of young people, seemingly enthusiastic about Obamacare and every other billboard proclaims “Long live Oregonians.”

A generation removed from the fall of the Soviet Union, young people of today are largely unable to recognize state-run propaganda when they see it. Many see a billboard with happy, smiling people speaking of the greatness of government-run healthcare and no alarms ring out, no bells remind them of the Soviet-era propaganda that highlighted the greatness of whatever project the Politburo was pushing.

Cover Oregon has been nearly as big a disaster as healthcare.gov and the website remains in ruins. Since October 1st, 2013, Cover Oregon has only registered 44 people and the website cost Oregonians $300 million. To remedy the site’s problems, Oregon leaders have taken to pumping out paper applications and have contracted with outside organizations to help navigate citizens through the process that was supposed to be easy. These navigators are called “Community Partners” and they are contractually forbidden from explaining any downside to Obamacare to people looking for answers.

If state officials believe that a community partner has spoken negatively about Obamacare, they can terminate the grant at their “sole discretion.”

Cover Oregon’s interim director Bruce Goldberg has declared that he has only recently been made aware of the language and has claimed that steps will be taken to change the agreement. However, the addition of the non-disparagement agreement appeared in October, after severe criticisms emerged regarding the site. » Full Article

About TheTeaParty.net
TheTeaParty.net is a division of Stop This Insanity Inc. and is a national non-profit 501 (c)(4) organization created in 2009 for the education and advancement of the constitutional conservative values of the Tea Party movement. This organization was created to help give the power of government back to the people. We believe, like many of you, that our government has grown out-of-control in a death spiral of unsustainable and barely imaginable trillion-dollar deficits and a national debt rivaling Gross Domestic Product. This government has ignored the Constitution that defines us; invaded the liberty from which our nation was born; and daily drains away the individuality and entrepreneurial spirit of Americans in order to advance a radical, socialist policy built on the back of American taxpayers. We, like many of you, decided to stand up and do something about it. » Learn More

» WaPo Poll: Obama’s Approval Ratings Worst Since Nixon
Though he initially ran on a platform promising hope and change, the 44th president has less in common with great reformers of the modern presidency and seems to have much in common with President Richard Nixon, our nation’s 37th president who resigned in shame amidst scandals that plagued his presidency.

» Bloomberg Columnist: Give out Marijuana to get Young People to Sign up for Obamacare
The failures of Obamacare has the left panicked. While political turbulence can certainly be weathered by beltway veterans who know the drill, Obamacare is different; Obamacare is not merely political choppy water, it is a tidal wave that will sink the boat.

» Sebelius Admits to Obama’s Lies: Some People Will Pay More Under ObamaCare
From the beginning of Obamacare’s introduction and promises, many on the right have called the administration out on claims and promises made that were just not economically possible. Barack Obama stated over and over again that every American would see their premiums decrease by at least $2500 a year. With that reduction in premium would come increased service and health insurance for all. When questioning the mathematical and realistic feasibility of such promises, the racist accusation was often hurled. However, on a recent trip to Miami, Kathleen Sebelius, with one simple statement, vindicated those who were accused of being racist for questioning Obama’s impossible claims and admitted that Obama indeed lied with these promises.
