ISIS “MAY BE” COMMITTING GENOCIDE AND HAS KILLED AT LEAST 18,802 PEOPLE

THE CLARION PROJECT — The Islamic State has enslaved more than 3,500 people and may be committing genocide in Iraq according to a new report by the United Nations.

“ISIS continues to commit systematic and widespread violence and abuses of international human rights law and humanitarian law” the report read. “These acts may, in some instances, amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and possibly genocide.”

Between January 2014 and 31st October 2015 18,802 people have been killed and 36,245 wounded in Iraq. In the same time frame 3.2 million people have been displaced and over one million children are out of school.

The report was compiled by the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
