In the traditional, longstanding church calendar going way back, even before the Middle Ages, tomorrow, August 24th, was always celebrated as Saint Bartholomew’s Day, Saint Bartholomew’s Day.That, in itself, is not particularly notable, however. On Saint Bartholomew’s Day, August 24th, 1572, THE FRENCH PROTESTANTS WERE TARGETED BY THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR ASSASSINATION. It was the Saint Bartholomew’s Day massacre. It was followed by a wave of Catholic mob violence that resulted in the death of 3,000 protestants. That historically makes Saint Bartholomew’s Day significant. ...”
