JONATHAN SETTEL: SHABBAT SHALOM

“I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people:
and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.”

WHAT DOES ‘SHABBAT SHALOM’ MEAN?

» Answer by Violeta Solis This literally means “peaceful sabbath” in Hebrew.

This is the standard greeting between Jews on Shabbat, from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday, but is often used as early as Thursday.

Shalom: peace/completeness or wholeness and general greeting for all time.

Shabbat: the seventh day of the week for the Jewish calendar. A day off (literally a day to be set apart from all other days-for introspection, spiritual growth, and renewal) - beginning on Friday at sundown and ending on Saturday evening when three stars appear in the sky and can be viewed together.

“O sing unto the LORD a new song:
sing unto the LORD, all the earth.”

PROPHECY TODAY WITH JIMMY DEYOUNG: DAILY UPDATE FOR JUNE 11, 2016

EXAMINING CURRENT EVENTS IN
THE LIGHT OF GOD’S PROPHETIC WORD

JEWS IN JERUSALEM AND AROUND THE WORLD
SPEND ALL NIGHT STUDYING THE BIBLE

THIS “DAILY UPDATE” AIRED: FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2016
Jewish men and women in Jerusalem and around the world spent all night studying the Torah, the first five books of the Bible, in honor of the day that traditionally the Lord gave the Torah, the Law, to Moses at Mt. Sinai in the wilderness of Egypt.

The practice of Jewish people learning all night long is a custom rather than a commandment and they say it is the express of one’s desire to draw closer to God as they celebrate the Jewish feast day of Shavuot, the Feast of Pentecost.

THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, AND JACOB REGARDING ISRAEL

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people:
all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,
though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
