SUPREME AFTERMATH TROUBLE IS COMING

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY UNDER ATTACK

One month ago, 5 lawyers on the Supreme Court created a constitutional right to so-called same-sex marriage. The four that dissented in essence were issuing a warning that trouble is coming. The result? Religious liberty is under attack.

Joining Jim to discuss this was Mat Staver. Mat is the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, an international nonprofit, litigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family.

Mat began by commenting on undercover video footage featuring a high-level Planned Parenthood representative. The organization is now backtracking to try and explain comments that point to the alleged practice of dissection and body parts trafficking. Mat believes they should not only be defunded at the state and federal levels but criminal prosecution charges should be brought about as well.

The first Monday after June 26th, county clerks were on the firing line because they were to provide same-sex marriage licenses. He described one instance in Kentucky where the ACLU is not only asking the clerk to issue the licenses, but for her to face punitive, monetary damages.

Mat also described the plight of David Wells. Dave is an ordained minister and volunteer in the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice. He had his volunteer credentials revoked because he wouldn't sign a statement promising to refrain from ever telling any of the juvenile inmates that homosexuality is sinful.

Discussion then moved to Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin who explained in comments on MSNBC that the 1st Amendment right to observe deeply held religious beliefs doesn't extend far beyond one's institution of faith. In other words, you can believe in one-man, one-woman marriage while in your church, just don't express that outside in public life.

Mat responded by noting that this shows her ignorance of the 1st Amendment and the free exercise of religion. He went on to explain that the 1st Amendment applies not only to churches and synagogues but to individuals as well. In fact, the 1st Amendment protects the individual from the government should they want to intrude on the free exercise of religion.

This Crosstalk also looked at the call for churches throughout America to lose their tax exempt status due to the Supreme Court ruling;

The religious capitulation taking place nationwide;

The University of California's offering of six choices for gender identity;

Downtown Reno replaced the American flag with the LGBT pride flag;

Executive action by the President to expand the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include LGBT individuals and more.

SHOULD CHRISTIANS SUBMIT TO GOVERNMENT’S REBELLION AGAINST GOD?


Breaking News. Spiritual Perspective.

The pushback has begun. Christian business owners, lawyers, parents, judges, county clerks, organizations, universities, hospitals, adoption agencies and other individuals and groups have been given an ultimatum by five unelected, unaccountable liberals in Washington, D.C.: "You must now obey us and disobey God. You must pretend, with us, that sin-based same-sex 'marriage' is an actual thing."

To which we say, "Not on your life."

"Or our own."

Absolute truth is a stubborn thing. Attempts at marital alchemy notwithstanding, the highly contentious, wholly contemptible 5-4 "gay marriage" opinion (and that's all it is, an opinion) released last week by five pagan extremists in black robes is altogether illegitimate and should be treated as such.

From a moral, biological and legal standpoint, the court's majority opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges is a complete farce. It's an absurd missive, a bohemian word salad that was roundly, and rightly, condemned by the court's four dissenting justices. "The Supreme Court of the United States has descended from the disciplined legal reasoning of John Marshall and Joseph Story to the mystical aphorisms of the fortune cookie," mocked Justice Scalia.

These "five lawyers," as Chief Justice John Roberts called them, can no more suspend the laws of natural marriage, than can they suspend the laws of gravity. "[D]o not celebrate the Constitution," wrote Roberts. "It had nothing to do with it."

This opinion, which has been branded "the Dred Scott of marriage," has not changed one iota; the fixed and immovable reality that the institution of marriage, an institution as old as mankind itself, is, and shall forever remain, centrally defined by its binary male-female requirement.

Indeed, as the four dissenting justices noted, the majority failed, at every level, from a precedential, historical, moral and, perhaps most importantly, a constitutional standpoint, to make the case for redefining marriage—something no man can do.

So how should we Christians react to this haughtiness—to this rebellion against God?

God's Word tells us how to react:


“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said,
We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Many of us have long warned that this day would come, and it has arrived. In the Spirit of Daniel the prophet and MLK the reverend, we Christians must now engage, as relates our peaceful response to the imposition of counterfeit same-sex "marriage," in widespread civil disobedience. It's the right thing to do. In fact, it's a sin if we don't. "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, it is sin" (James 4:17).

There are those who will prefer the path of least resistance and will cite, out of context, various Scriptures in order to avoid the possible persecution that may come as a result of obedience to God. For example: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are appointed by God” Romans 13:1

To be clear, under our constitutional republican form of government, "We the People" are "the governing authorities," and our elected officials in Congress and the White House are the hired help. They are subject to us, and we are all subject to God, who is the Final Authority.

These nine unelected, unaccountable justices on the U.S. Supreme Court are appointed and confirmed by the elected officials we hire to represent us. Five of the nine have now presumed to defy both the sovereign will of tens of millions of “We the People who engaged the constitutional process and voted to defend the immutable definition of marriage, as well as, and more importantly, the sovereign will of God Almighty, the very Author of marriage itself.

Central to Christianity, and clearly delineated throughout both the Old and New Testaments, is the unambiguous and timeless proposition that any sexual practice outside the bonds of true man-woman marriage constitutes sexual immorality and results in separation from God. This, of course, includes sexual acting out between members of the same sex, whether or not such acting out is tied to the novel notion of so-called "same-sex marriage."

So let's see if we can make this abundantly clear. Christians, true Christians—regenerate, Bible-believing Christians who strive their level best to maintain fidelity to the Word of God and honor His commands—will not, indeed cannot, participate in, approve of, facilitate or encourage certain behaviors deemed by the Holy Scriptures to be immoral or sinful. This is both our constitutionally affirmed human right and our Christian duty.

It is not so much that Christians wish, willy-nilly, to call homosexual behavior, polyamory, fornication, adultery, bestiality, incest or any other disordered sexual proclivity "sinful." It is, rather, that we must. For the true Christian, God's objective truths will always trump man's subjective desires.

And so this opinion, let's call it Kennedy’s folly, will result in, must necessarily result in, widespread civil disobedience—disobedience of the sort we havent seen since the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and 1960s.

For 2,000 years, whenever such conflicts have arisen, Christians have placed the laws of God above the laws of man.

What makes you think we're about to change now?

As many in the early church refused to bow a knee to Caesar in worship, so too will many modern Christians refuse, under any circumstances, to obey any court opinion or man-made law that presumes to make sin obligatory.

If the ancient church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, was able to face the lions in hopeful anticipation of joining Jesus, then we, too, under the same Spirit, will face anything today's pagan left can threaten.

In the ongoing culture war, it seems there are no rules of engagement. The secular left will accept nothing short of unconditional surrender. That is to say, the pagans demand that we Christians abandon the biblical worldview altogether, and adopt their own.

This will never happen.

In his letter from the Birmingham jail, Martin Luther King Jr. famously declared: One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.

"A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God," he explained. "An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law."

An unjust law is, in point of fact, lawlessness.

One can imagine nothing more "out of harmony with the moral law," than the twisted and oxymoronic notion of so-called "same-sex marriage."

And so, Mr. Kennedy, our answer is no.

Come what may, we will not obey your unjust lawlessness.

SUPREME COURT BLOCKS TEXAS PRO-LIFE LAW CLOSING ABORTION CLINICS, SAVING 10,000 FROM ABORTION




Steven Ertelt, Founder and Editor, LifeNews — The Supreme Court has blocked a Texas pro-life law credited with closing multiple abortion clinics and cutting abortions 13 percent, saving an estimated 9,900 babies from abortion. The high court voted 5-4, with Justice Anthony Kennedy joining with the four reliable abortion activists on the Supreme Court in blocking the law.

The legislation, House Bill 2 (HB2), requires abortion facilities to meet the same safety standards of other Ambulatory Surgical Centers in the state, ensures that abortionists have admitting privileges at a local hospital, and bans painful late abortions on fully formed babies. The admitting privileges portion of the law was the portion responsible for closing abortion clinics and, because so many shut down or stopped doing abortions, Judge Lee Yeakel claimed that constituted an undue burden on women.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed an appeal of Judge Yeakel’s ruling and the appellate court issued its decision on that earlier this month. Abortion clinics appealed and asked the high court to block the law while the lower court considers the appeal and the high court granted that request today.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the lower court “erred by substituting its own judgment for that of the legislature” when ruling against the pro-life bill. It ruled that all abortion clinics have to follow the admitting privileges law except one.

The New York Times has more:
The vote was 5 to 4, with Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. voting to deny the stay.

The case concerns two parts of a state law that imposes strict requirements on abortion providers. One requires all abortion clinics in the state to meet the standards for “ambulatory surgical centers,” including regulations concerning buildings, equipment and staffing. The other requires doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

Other parts of the law took effect in 2013, causing about half of the state’s 41 abortion clinics to close. If the contested provisions take effect, abortion rights advocates said, the number of clinics will again be halved.

“This would amount to a more than 75 percent reduction in Texas abortion facilities in just a two-year period, creating a severe shortage of safe and legal abortion services in a state that is home to more than five million reproductive–age women,” lawyers for abortion providers told the justices in an emergency application for a stay.

Planned Parenthood did not challenge the law’s prohibition on abortions that take place at 20 weeks or later, a provision based on evidence that demonstrates the baby can feel pain at that stage. Pro-life Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed the omnibus HB 2 bill into law in July 2013.

Abbott criticized Yeakel in his motion to the appellate court, saying the district judge “failed even to mention (much less follow) precedent” from the appellate court and U.S. Supreme Court. Abbott asked for a response from the appeals court by Friday and he said he thinks it will overturn the judge’s decision.

A leading pro-life group hailed today’s decision.

“Texas has struck a decisive blow for women’s health and safety against a predatory abortion industry,” said Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest. “A largely under-monitored, under-supervised, and secretive abortion industry tells women ‘trust but don’t verify that our clinics are clean and safe.’ No longer should women be abandoned to self-serving and false assurances from an industry that puts profits over people.”

AUL filed an amicus curiae brief (friend-of-the-court) brief in the Fifth Circuit in support of the mandate that abortion clinics meet the same health and safety standards as other facilities performing outpatient surgeries.

This case, once fully decided, is expected to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. AUL Vice President of Legal Affairs Denise Burke, writing in The Federalist, predicted in January 2015 that the high court would eventually review the life-affirming provisions of Texas House Bill 2 and, in doing so, could dramatically change America’s abortion landscape. Notably, the Supreme Court has never ruled on the constitutionality of comprehensive health and safety standards for abortion facilities.

Over and over again we are told that we have lost the culture wars and that it's time for us to throw in the towel and capitulate, especially as the Supreme Court's decision on redefining marriage is soon to be announced.

I'm here to announce that no matter what the Supreme Court says, no matter what the president says, no matter what society says, we are not bowing down to anyone other than the Lord Himself. And with God's help, there's not a shred of a possibility that we will compromise our convictions when it comes to the meaning of marriage.

Those who fear man more than God will compromise.

Those who have a misguided conception of compassion will compromise.

Those who want to save their own reputation will compromise.

Those who put so-called cultural sensitivity before sensitivity to the Spirit will compromise.

Those who read Scripture through the lens of societal norms will compromise.

Those who are influenced by friendship with people more than by friendship with the Lord will compromise.

But those who love the Lord, who honor His Word, who truly care about what is best for society in the long term and who have already denied themselves and taken up their cross to follow Jesus—they will never compromise.

A very sweet woman (a nonreligious lesbian) who listens regularly to my radio show posted on Facebook that “I have a feeling that [your] ideas about gay people will die out with your generation.

Not a chance.

An Angry ‘Gay’ Man On Facebook Wrote To Me:


“The LGBT is not going anywhere.
Christian Fundamentalism lost. BIG TIME!
Go crawl back in your troll holes and die.”


He could not possibly be more wrong (although my commitment is not to Christian fundamentalism but to the living Lord Jesus, my Savior, Master and King). As noted in Mark Galli's recent article for Christianity Today, "Breaking News: 2 Billion Christians Believe in Traditional Marriage. And So Do We."

It could well be that committed believers in America and the West are about to enter a very difficult season, but surely, it will not be comparable to the difficulties already experienced by our persecuted brothers and sisters in other parts of the world.

It could well be that we will suffer many setbacks and losses before the tide turns, but as surely as Jesus is Lord, His people will stand tall and push back, and if He does not return in the next few decades, our children or grandchildren or great-grandchildren will look back at these days of sexual anarchy, malleable marriage and gender blurring with wonder and shock.

As conservative political commentator Erick Erickson wrote, One thing is for sure—a faith that survived its followers being used as torches to light the streets of Rome will survive a modern age hell bent on ruthlessly stamping it out.

Political leaders like Mike Huckabee have announced that they will not recognize any ruling by the Supreme Court that redefines marriage, reminding us that, in the past, “These nine, unelected Supreme Court justices have rationalized the destruction of human life, defined African-Americans as property and justified Japanese-American internment camps.

Pastors like Steve Smothermon have said, "We want to help people, but we are not going to be forced by the government and society or the politically correct to say we are going to believe in it. If they said, 'Listen, pastor, we are going to put you in jail if you don't honor this.' I am going to say, 'Then put me in jail.'"

The leadership of the Southern Baptist Convention has echoed these sentiments as well, along with a host of other Christian leaders.

That's one reason why my new book, due out in September, is titled, Outlasting the Gay Revolution: Where Homosexual Activism Is Really Going and How to Turn the Tide. And that's why the first principle I set forth is "Never compromise your convictions," while the eighth (and last) principle is "Be determined to write the last chapter of the story." This is how we stand and endure.

The bottom line is that, whichever direction America goes, we will continue to live for the Lord, we will continue to pray and worship, and we will continue to preach the gospel and make disciples. And if the Lord doesn’t come first, the current storm will pass as well.

As the fabled missionary Adoniram Judson (1788-1850) said, even while suffering terribly in a Burmese prison (he endured horrific losses over the course of his ministry in Burma), "The future is as bright as the promises of God."

That's why I remain full of optimism, excitement and confidence.

Whatever the world or the devil or sin or people mean for evil, our God will turn it for good as we honor Him, walk in love and do what is right.

AMERICA SPITS IN GOD’S FACE: THE SUPREME COURT IN A HISTORIC 5-4 RULING ON FRIDAY SAID THERE IS A RIGHT TO SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IN ALL 50 STATES, DELIVERING A MONUMENTAL WIN FOR GAY RIGHTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, often the swing vote on the court, sided with its more liberal members and authored the 34-page decision. He wrote that marriage is a “keystone of the nation’s social order” and that there is “no difference between same- and opposite-sex couples with respect to this principle.”

Kennedy then criticized that same-sex couples are denied the benefits that states have linked to marriage. “It is demeaning to lock same-sex couples out of a central institution of the nation’s society, for they too may aspire to the transcendent purposes of marriage,” he wrote.

Supporters of same-sex marriage cheered outside the Supreme Court as word of the decision leaked outside. Many held flags adorned with a blue and yellow equal sign, the logo of the LGBT advocacy group the Human Rights Campaign.

Marc Solomon, national campaign director for Freedom to Marry, called the decision a “profound victory.” “America has once again fulfilled its promise of the Constitution to another group of Americans,” he said.

Kennedy’s opinion declares that all states must recognize same-sex marriages under the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause. He swats down the argument promoted by those against same-sex marriage, who asserted that granting same-sex marriage would devalue or harm the institution of traditional marriage.

“Far from seeking to devalue marriage, the petitioners seek it for themselves because of their respect — and need — for its privileges and responsibilities,” he writes. “And their immutable nature dictates that same-sex marriage is their only real path to this profound commitment.”

All four conservative justices wrote dissenting opinions, with Chief Justice John Roberts writing the longest, 29 pages, of which he read excerpts from the bench.

While Roberts recognized the day is a monumental one for gays and lesbians, he wrote that it has “nothing to do” with the Constitution. “If you are among the many Americans — of whatever sexual orientation — who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision,” he writes. “Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”

Justice Antonin Scalia, fresh off of a scathing dissent in Thursday’s Affordable Care Act case, penned his own decision even though he said he completely agrees with Roberts’s views, in order to “call attention to this court’s threat to American democracy.”

Scalia writes that the outcome of the decision is not particularly important to him, and that he believes the law can recognize “whatever sexual attachments and living arrangements it wishes, and can afford them favorable civil consequences.” source
