President Barack Obama sent a celebratory message to Muslims around the world on the White House Twitter account nearly two hours before his first tweet on the subject of four dead Marines killed by an Islamic gunman.
“From my family to yours, Eid Mubarak!” —@POTUS to Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr,” the White House tweeted. This message was tweeted at 4:48 p.m. according to the White House Twitter feed.

A few minutes before the posting of this article, the White House tweeted a video message, shown below, calling the shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a “heartbreaking circumstance.” Others might call the incident “a terrorist attack.” This message was tweeted at 6:08 p.m. according to the White House Twitter feed.

On Thursday afternoon, Breitbart News reported a claim by the Chattanooga Times Free Press identifying the shooter who killed four Marines in an attack on an armed forces recruiting center in Chattanooga as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. It was not clear if this was the man, or if it was his father.
“A U.S. official says the gunman in the shootings in Tennessee has been identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez,” according to the Associated Press.
CNN has also reported the shooter being identified by the FBI as Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, 24. He was killed at the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the FBI terrorism task force.
The president has been criticized this week for a number of insensitive moves regarding the deaths and captivity of Americans. Earlier this week, President Obama remained silent on the death of Kate Steinle, the woman murdered by a previously deported illegal alien, as reported by Breitbart News’ Alex Swoyer.
That same day, Breitbart News’ Jeff Poor reported about the president’s chastisement of CBS White House correspondent Major Garrett over his questioning the president’s negotiations with Iran that left four Americans in captivity in the wake of his nuclear arms agreement.

Lea Speyer, Breaking Israel News (BIN) —Four US Marines are left dead and others injured following a deadline shooting terror rampage in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday. One of the Marines killed was a decorated war hero with two purple hearts.
Muhammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, the 24-year-old Kuwaiti born terrorist, opened fire on two US military facilities before being killed in the shootout with police.
The terrorist, driving an open-top Ford Mustang, opened fire on a joint military recruiting center in a strip mall, riddling the outside of the building with bullets. Abdulazeez then drove 10 km (6 miles) to a Naval Reserve Center, where he fatally shot four Marines before being shot dead by police.
Three people were wounded in the attack, including a police officer and a Marine. The first attack began at approximately 10:45 am and ended some 30 minutes later.
Friends and acquaintances of Abdulazeez expressed their shock to the media over the attack, saying that Abdulazeez was an “all-American kid” who came from an “average” family.
US President Barack Obama condemned the attack and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
“It is heartbreaking circumstance for these individuals who have served our country with great valor to be killed in this fashion,” he said from the Oval Office.
The FBI was quick to determine the attack was a case of domestic terrorism and are investigating possible ties to ISIS. FBI Special Agent Edward Reinhold told media on Thursday that investigators have yet to connect Abdulazeez to an international terrorist organization.
The deadly Chattanooga attack took place as ISIS put out a call to step up violence during the holy month of Ramadan, which ends Friday evening.
According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks extremist groups, Abdulazeez blogged earlier in the week on Monday that “life is short and bitter.” He also wrote that Muslims should not miss the chance to “submit to Allah.”

A United States Marine was convicted at a court-martial for refusing to remove a Bible verse on her computer – a verse of Scripture the military determined “could easily be seen as contrary to good order and discipline.”
The plight of Lance Corporal Monifa Sterling seems unbelievable – a member of the Armed Forces criminally prosecuted for displaying a slightly altered passage of Scripture from the Old Testament: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
Sterling, who represented herself at trial, was convicted February 1, 2014 in a court-martial at Camp Lejune, North Carolina after she refused to obey orders from a staff sergeant to remove the Bible verses from her desk.
She was found guilty of failing to go to her appointed place of duty, disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer, and four specifications of disobeying the lawful order of a noncommissioned officer.
Both lower court and the appellate court ruled that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act did not apply to her case because displaying a Bible verse does not constitute religious exercise.
However, a religious liberty law firm and a high-powered, former U.S. solicitor general have taken up her case and have filed an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.

“If the government can order a Marine not to display a Bible verse, they could try and order her not to get a religious tattoo, or go to church on Sunday,” said Liberty Institute attorney Michael Berry. “Restricting a Marine’s free exercise of religion is blatantly unconstitutional.”
Sterling wised up and finally got legal counsel. Now representing her are the Liberty Institute along with former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, also a law professor at Georgetown University. Clement most recently won a Supreme Court victory on behalf of Hobby Lobby against the Affordable Care Act.

Liberty Institute and Clement plan to argue that the appellate court should have applied the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in Sterling’s case – protecting her right to post Bible verses as a form of religious exercise.
According to the appellate court’s decision, they were not convinced “that displaying religious text at a shared government workstation would be protected even in a civilian federal workplace.” They also considered the fact that Sterling’s desk was shared by other Marines.
“The implication is clear – the junior Marine sharing the desk and the other Marines coming to the desk for assistance would be exposed to biblical quotations in the military workplace,” the court declared. “It is not hard to imagine the divisive impact to good order and discipline that may result when a service member is compelled to work at a government desk festooned with religious quotations.”
FESTOONED WITH RELIGIOUS QUOTATIONS?
Attorney Berry points out that other Marines were allowed to decorate their desks. However, the lower courts refused to allow that evidence to be admitted. And at the time of the incident – Sterling was not sharing a desk.
“This was a conflict between her and her supervisor,” he told me. “Her supervisor clearly said she did not like the tone of the Bible verses.”
Berry said the supervisor cursed at Sterling and ordered her to immediately remove the verses. She refused the order. The following day, she discovered the verses had been removed and thrown in the trash.
“Adding insult to injury, the government charged her with the crime of failing to obey a direct order because she did not remove the Bible verse,” Berry said.
According to court documents, the military maintains the “verbiage” – “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” could “easily been seen as contrary to good order and discipline.”
“Maintaining discipline and morale in the military work center could very well require that the work center remain relatively free of divisive or contentious issues such as personal beliefs, religion, politics, etc.”

“This is a very scary time when you are not allowed to have a very small printed Bible verse in your own personal workspace because it might offend other Marines,” Sasser told me. “Our Marines are trained to deal with some of the most hostile people on the planet. I don’t think they are afraid of tiny words on a tiny piece of paper.”

The Bible verse incident happened in May 2013. A few months later she was accused of failing to wear an appropriate uniform because of a medical condition. Berry told me he believes the military was trumping up the charge sheet “to make it look that things were worse than they were.”
As it now stands – Sterling is unemployed and looking for work. It’s a process made harder because of the bad conduct discharge from the military.
Hopefully Liberty Institute will be able to restore this Christian Marine’s good name and expunge the charge. Anything less could jeopardize the standing of every person of faith serving in the Armed Forces. Should that happen – God help us all. source

According to Marine Corps regulation MCO P1020.34F of the Marine Corps Uniform Regulations chapter 3, a male Marine is not allowed to carry an umbrella while in uniform. There is no provision in the Marine Corps uniform regulation guidelines that allows a male Marine to carry an umbrella.
Nevertheless, during a press conference under a light drizzle with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan this morning, President Obama allowed the First Head to be protected from the elements by an umbrella held by a male Marine corporal.
The relevant portion of the regulation reads, “3035. UMBRELLAS (Female Marines). Female Marines may carry an all-black, plain standard or collapsible umbrella at their option during inclement weather with the service and dress uniforms. It will be carried in the left hand so that the hand salute can be properly rendered. Umbrellas may not be used/carried in formation nor will they be carried with the utility uniform.”
Items not expressly delineated as authorized components of the Marine Corps uniform are prohibited. Male Marines are informed never to carry an umbrella from the earliest phases of training. Not even the President of the United States can request a Marine to carry an umbrella without the express consent of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, according to the Marine Corps Manual.
The Marine Corps Manual, the guidebook that defines protocol for officers and enlisted Marines, in section 2806 paragraph 2, specifically states: “The Marine Corps Uniform Regulations, published by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, shall be binding on all Marines. No officer or official shall issue instructions which conflict with, alter, or amend any provision without the approval of the Commandant of the Marine Corps.”

Harry Reid Ties Sequester To Deaths Of Seven Marines
Jeff Poor, The Daily Caller — On his Tuesday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin attacked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for implying on the U.S. Senate floor earlier in the day that the sequester could affect training exercises like the one that led to the deaths of seven U.S. Marines at a military facility in Hawthorne, Nev. on Monday night.
Before launching into his attack, Levin referred to an NBC report that said Marine officials referred to Reid’s statements as “pure political posturing on the backs of these dead Marines.”
“That’s exactly what it was, and it was grotesque. And Harry Reid, you’re the lowest of the low-lives, you know that?” Levin said. “You really are at the bottom of the sewer, all the time on every issue — whether it’s accusing Mitt Romney of not filing taxes. You are just a very ill human being. And the fact that you’re the Senate majority leader says an awful lot about the Democrats in the Senate. The American people deserve better than this miscreant — we do. We deserve better than this man. He is a vicious stupid man. Somehow out of Searchlight, Nev., he has acquired tens of millions of dollars, as he lives on the penthouse floor in the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. Levin called on a member of the Senate Republican caucus to step forward and condemn Reid.

Jason Howerton, TheBlaze — One U.S. Marine was more than a little displeased with California Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s draconian gun control proposal, which includes an assault weapons ban and provisions on handguns and even “grandfathered weapons.”
The letter, written by U.S. Marine Joshua Boston, was titled “No ma’am” and was first posted on CNN iReport on Dec. 27. The letter has since gone viral and has been shared extensively on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, as it seemingly has resonated with a segment of the American population.
