RED ALERT! WITH AMY ZEWE

BOYCOTT, DIVESTMENT AND SANCTIONS
(BDS) MOVEMENT AGAINST ISRAEL

ON THIS WEEK’S EDITION - OPENING TRANSCRIPT
ANTI-BDS ACTIONS—AN UPDATE: Governor Christie of New Jersey just last week signed into law his state’s legislators bill to ban the use of New Jersey pension fund and other taxpayer money with any company that is engaged in BDS activities. Governor Christie coupled this signing with the remarks that not only does the state of New Jersey stand in solidarity and support of the State of Israel, that this camaraderie goes beyond just lip service and that it must be demonstrated in economic policies as well...”

EEOC: SCHOOL WRONG TO FIRE TEACHER WHO GAVE BIBLE TO STUDENT

Todd’s American Dispatch

Shame On You, Phillipsburg School District

Todd Starnes, Fox News & Commentary —
A New Jersey school district violated the law when it fired a teacher who handed a Bible to a student, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled on December 15, 2014. The ruling was made public Tuesday.

The EEOC determined there was reasonable cause to believe the Phillipsburg School District discriminated against Walt Tutka, a substitute teacher. The EEOC also said religion and retaliation played a factor in Tutka’s firing.

The Phillipsburg School District owes
Walt his job, back pay and an apology.
They waged a disgusting public war
against this fine, upstanding man simply
because he gave a child a Bible.

“This is a great indication the EEOC is taking religious liberty seriously and they are going to enforce the law — and in this case make sure Walt’s rights are protected,” Liberty Institute attorney Hiram Sasser told me.

Liberty Institute is a law firm that specializes in religious liberty cases.

“This sends a message to school districts that their natural allergic reaction to religion is misplaced, and not only is it wrong — but it’s also an egregious violation of the law,” Sasser said.

As I first reported, Tutka was working as a substitute teacher on Oct. 12, 2013, when he ran afoul of school policies. He told a straggling student at the end of a line, “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.”

The student asked on a number of occasions where the line was from, and Tutka told him it was from the Bible. When he discovered the child did not have a Bible, Tutka gave him his personal copy. It was not all that unusual because Tutka is a member of Gideons International, a ministry known for providing Bibles to school children across the world.

On Oct. 18, Tutka was summoned to the principal’s office, where he was accused of violating a school policy that bans the distribution of religious materials and another that directs teachers to be neutral when discussion religious material.

He was fired on Jan. 14.

Sasser said he hopes the school district will reinstate Tutka.

“If they don’t do the right thing, they will face some serious consequences,” he told me. “They are going to be liable for damages.”

I reached out to George Chando, the superintendent of the Phillipsburg School District. He declined to return my call.

My advice to him is to do the right thing, or Liberty Institute will go after him like a pit bull going after a pork chop.

Sasser said the EEOC ruling should serve as a warning to other school districts around the nation.

“You can’t just fire people because they happen to hand a Bible to somebody while they are at work,” he said.

Sasser said he believes the school district was out to get Walt because he is a Gideon. I obtained a copy of an email from Phillipsburg Middle School Assistant Principal John Stillo that suggest the school district had an issue with the well-known religious group.

“It has been brought to the administration’s attention that Gideons may be near our campus to distribute literature to our students,” Stillo wrote in a memo to the school’s staff. “Please make sure they DO NOT step foot onto our campus at any time. There will be added police and security presence at dismissal.”

Gideon International has a long history of providing Bibles to public school students, but many districts have banned the religious society in recent years. Ironically, the Gideons are welcome to distribute Bibles and deliver speeches in Russian schools.

The Phillipsburg School District should rehire Walt. And it owes him a big apology. They waged a disgusting public war against this fine, upstanding man simply because he gave a child a Bible. Shame on you, Phillipsburg School District. Shame on you.

BROKEBACK BOARDWALK: OBAMA & CHRISTIE REKINDLE BROMANCE

Truth Lives Here

“Brokeback Boardwalk”
Many respectable news outlets have talked about how Chris Christie won Obama a teddy bear - but what happened next? Only Glenn has the story.

Note: It’s not clear if the report actually happened…but it’s probably better than anything that actually did.

Transcript:
Love was in the air as NJ Governor Chris Christie won his new object of obsession, President Obama, a teddy bear while the lovebirds strolled along the boardwalk in NJ. With his administration mired in scandal, Obama is trying to play his greatest hits – revisiting all the places where he got a bump in the polls. But the media seems to be missing one of the biggest stories from the day, and only Glenn had it.

And while many news outlets picked up on Chris Christie stepping in to win a stuffed teddy bear for President Obama, only Glenn and his special, investigative reporters picked up on what happened next.

“TheBlaze is reporting this morning that afterwards, the two made a sand castle of the White House on the beach and then frolicked in the crashing waves, playfully and gently splashing wanter on one another for about an hour. Then after Chris Christie played a game of shirtless beach volleyball, just in jeans, while the President cheered him on, the two departed for a dinner meeting,” Glenn reported.

“Instead of the secure limo, the President rode on the back of Christie’s motorcycle, tightly hugging around his waist from the back seat – or at least as much of the waist as we can get his arms around.”

“As they sped off, a handwritten note flew out of the President’s pocket and one of our Blaze reporters picked it up and it’s — seems to be — I don’t want to report it is, but it seems to be in Chris Christie’s handwriting and it just says: Watching every motion in my foolish lover’s game on this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame. Turning and returning to some secret place inside, watching in slow motion, as you turn around and say take my breath away.”

“Now, because of Christie’s recent weight loss surgery, the two decided just to eat a little lighter and they shared a plate of pasta at dinner. I don’t know why, but they were in the back alley of some place there in Jersey. They claimed it was an odd coincidence, they happened to suck up the same end of the noodle as they were looking away from each other, then they suddenly turned and found their lips touching.”

“The night ended with Christie giving the President a one hour private tour of Hurricane Sandy’s tour under the Boardwalk,” Glenn continued, “no press or staff were allowed, although the Secret Service got a little an antsy, because they did hear some moaning and they didn’t know if one of them was hurt or what was going on. One unsourced account reported hearing the following exchange shortly before the moaning began, and Christie apparently said, ‘Here we are, just the two of us together, taking the crazy chance to be all alone, because we both know that we shouldn’t be together, because if they found out, it could mess up both hour happy homes.’

“And the President responded, ‘How could something so wrong be so right? I wish we didn’t have to keep our love out of sight. Yeah. Living two lives, it just ain’t easy at all, but we got to hang on in there or fall.”

“And then suddenly, both in union, which is odd, but both in unison said ‘Secret lovers, yeah. That’s what we are. Trying so hard to hideaway the way we feel, because we both belong to someone else, but we can’t let it go, ’cause what we feel is oh, so real.’”

For all the haters… This Is a joke. Glenn knows Christie and Obama are straight and happily married to their respective wives. Yes, this humor (for Glenn) pushes the envelope a little, but we’re living in a world in which – supposedly – only those on the Left can use satire, humor, etc. to make a political point. I think people like Glenn and shows like Red Eye (on Fox News) are trying to tilt the scale in their favor. By the way, this is NOTHING compared to the “humor” of the Lefty comedians who say “f— George W!” or “Sarah Palin is a stupid slut”. Yes, for Glenn’s standards, this does push the envelope, but give him a break.
