ISRAELI BOY SINGLEHANDEDLY STAGES PROTEST OVER TEMPLE MOUNT ACCESS

Breaking Israel News
Latest News, Biblical Perspective

“Three times in a year shall all your males appear before Yahweh your God
in the place which he shall choose...
and they shall not appear before Yahweh empty”

Deuteronomy 16:16 - World English Bible

Ahuva Balofsky, Breaking Israel News (BIN) — An Israeli teenager, frustrated by discrimination against Jews at the entrance to their holiest site, staged a one-man protest outside the Temple Mount Monday. The peaceful yet powerful incident was filmed by Shlomo Walfish, who regularly ascends the Temple Mount three times a year to commemorate the Biblical festivals, Walfish told Breaking Israel News.

“I try to pray on the Temple Mount each holiday as it says in the Bible” said Walfish, “and this time all the religious Jews had to wait almost two hours to ascend while loads of non Jews were allowed to go in front of us. Finally, one teenager said enough is enough. He blocked the entrance with a bench and said, ‘if we can’t go, nobody can go.'”

Walfish captured the ensuing altercation on his phone which shows the dramatic showdown between Israeli police and the passionate teenager.

Blows were not exchanged, but police forcibly removed the older boy from the scene and arrested him. As he was led away, the teenager asked the crowd how King David would feel about the fact that “when they built a Jewish state… Jews would not be allowed to enter the Temple Mount?

“It is not logical that Jews can’t go up the Temple Mount, it’s a disgrace… it can’t pass in silence! …All I want is to go up to the Temple Mount…!” the boy exclaimed.

The Temple Mount is the site upon which both the First and Second Temples stood, and is the focal point of prayer for Jews the world over. It is also holy to Muslims, who believe Mohammed traveled there from Mecca during the Night Journey. Today, the al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, two Muslim shrines, sit atop the mountain. The Western Wall, one of the remaining retaining walls of the Second Temple, located closest to what was once the Holy of Holies in the Temple, lies below.

The Muslim Waqf, under Jordanian supervision, has maintained control over the contested site since Israel reunified the city of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six-Day War. To reduce tensions, access to the site by non-Muslims is severely restricted, and despite rulings to the contrary, any non-Muslim form of worship, particularly Jewish worship, is prevented.

This is not the first time a minor has been arrested for the “crime” of wanting to visit or pray on the Temple Mount. About a year ago, a ten-year-old was stopped for prostrating himself during a group visit to the Temple Mount. His mother, a lawyer, intervened, and the two were allowed to leave without further restrictions.

FIRE CHIEF FIRED FOR HIS FAITH

 photo 011315CT.jpg
Christian Information Radio
With Host Jim Schneider

Forced To Complete Sensitivity Training
Before Termination

On Today’s Broadcast (January 12, 2015): In September of 2013, the Oregon bake shop known as 'Sweet Cakes by Melissa' was closed after the owner refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding. She has faced having to pay a $150,000 fine for violating Oregon's anti-discrimination law.

Last week a judge ruled that the state of Washington has the authority to bring a consumer protection lawsuit against a florist who refused to provide flowers for a homosexual wedding. The shop could be held liable for violating the Consumer Protection Act. The business owner is being sued and the state attorney general is asking for a permanent injunction against the owner and her shop to comply with the law.

These are just two examples of growing persecution, attacks on free speech and bigotry against people who were merely trying to run their businesses or execute their employment while following the tenets of their Christian faith.

This edition of Crosstalk focuses primarily on the details surrounding the removal of Atlanta Fire Chief Kevin Cochran. Cochran was terminated from his duties following a city investigation. The complaint by Mayor Kasim Reed deals with a pro-family book that Cochran authored for his men's Bible study that upholds the biblical view of sexuality and contradicts the homosexual agenda.

Cochran received a one month suspension without pay in November and then it was announced that he would be fired. Before losing his job, Cochran was required to complete sensitivity training and was prevented from distributing copies of his book on city property.

EEOC: SCHOOL WRONG TO FIRE TEACHER WHO GAVE BIBLE TO STUDENT

Todd’s American Dispatch

Shame On You, Phillipsburg School District

Todd Starnes, Fox News & Commentary —
A New Jersey school district violated the law when it fired a teacher who handed a Bible to a student, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled on December 15, 2014. The ruling was made public Tuesday.

The EEOC determined there was reasonable cause to believe the Phillipsburg School District discriminated against Walt Tutka, a substitute teacher. The EEOC also said religion and retaliation played a factor in Tutka’s firing.

The Phillipsburg School District owes
Walt his job, back pay and an apology.
They waged a disgusting public war
against this fine, upstanding man simply
because he gave a child a Bible.

“This is a great indication the EEOC is taking religious liberty seriously and they are going to enforce the law — and in this case make sure Walt’s rights are protected,” Liberty Institute attorney Hiram Sasser told me.

Liberty Institute is a law firm that specializes in religious liberty cases.

“This sends a message to school districts that their natural allergic reaction to religion is misplaced, and not only is it wrong — but it’s also an egregious violation of the law,” Sasser said.

As I first reported, Tutka was working as a substitute teacher on Oct. 12, 2013, when he ran afoul of school policies. He told a straggling student at the end of a line, “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.”

The student asked on a number of occasions where the line was from, and Tutka told him it was from the Bible. When he discovered the child did not have a Bible, Tutka gave him his personal copy. It was not all that unusual because Tutka is a member of Gideons International, a ministry known for providing Bibles to school children across the world.

On Oct. 18, Tutka was summoned to the principal’s office, where he was accused of violating a school policy that bans the distribution of religious materials and another that directs teachers to be neutral when discussion religious material.

He was fired on Jan. 14.

Sasser said he hopes the school district will reinstate Tutka.

“If they don’t do the right thing, they will face some serious consequences,” he told me. “They are going to be liable for damages.”

I reached out to George Chando, the superintendent of the Phillipsburg School District. He declined to return my call.

My advice to him is to do the right thing, or Liberty Institute will go after him like a pit bull going after a pork chop.

Sasser said the EEOC ruling should serve as a warning to other school districts around the nation.

“You can’t just fire people because they happen to hand a Bible to somebody while they are at work,” he said.

Sasser said he believes the school district was out to get Walt because he is a Gideon. I obtained a copy of an email from Phillipsburg Middle School Assistant Principal John Stillo that suggest the school district had an issue with the well-known religious group.

“It has been brought to the administration’s attention that Gideons may be near our campus to distribute literature to our students,” Stillo wrote in a memo to the school’s staff. “Please make sure they DO NOT step foot onto our campus at any time. There will be added police and security presence at dismissal.”

Gideon International has a long history of providing Bibles to public school students, but many districts have banned the religious society in recent years. Ironically, the Gideons are welcome to distribute Bibles and deliver speeches in Russian schools.

The Phillipsburg School District should rehire Walt. And it owes him a big apology. They waged a disgusting public war against this fine, upstanding man simply because he gave a child a Bible. Shame on you, Phillipsburg School District. Shame on you.

THE 7 WORST ANTI-RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATORS OF THE YEAR

Breaking News. Spiritual Perspective.

These Religious Discriminators
Get The Scrooge Awards

By Liberty Institute, Charisma News — Ebenezer Scrooge may have been a work of fiction in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, but his cold-hearted ways are very much alive and well this Advent season.

Multitudes wear the "Bah-humbug" holiday muffler proudly—including anti-religious people and organizations who are attacking the religious liberty of Americans all across our nation.

At Liberty Institute, we think they deserve special recognition—and exposure so that more Americans are alerted to their outrageous efforts.

And that's why this Christmas season we're asking you and other friends and supporters to participate in our 2014 Scrooge Awards for Anti-Religious Discrimination—and nominate the No. 1 "Scrooge" who deserves to be called out for seeking to stamp out religious expression across America.

Here are the nominees for the 2014 Scrooge Awards for anti-religious discrimination.

1) The Plano Independent School District (Texas)—For its distaste for candy canes ... and kids celebrating Christmas. Elementary school students learned you're never too young to be a "Tiny Tim" victim of religious viewpoint discrimination. The Plano Independent School District in Plano, Texas, stopped students from sharing the following with their school friends: candy-cane pens with religious messaging in gift goodie bags, "Jesus" pencils, as well as free tickets to a Christmas play ... even though the law says kids have the right to do all the above. School officials even argued that these students do not have First Amendment rights. After a decade of the Plano ISD fighting against religious liberty in its schools, we are now proceeding back in trial court with the "Candy Cane Case."

2) The American Humanist Association—For trying to tear down a veterans memorial erected by mothers in memory of their sons lost in war. After standing almost a century without objection, a historic World War I veterans memorial in Prince Georges Country, Maryland, is under attack by American Humanist Association simply because it includes traditional religious imagery. This anti-religion group apparently has no sympathy for the mothers whose sons died fighting for freedom—and who raised the funds to have this memorial erected to honor their children.

3) The Town of Bayview, Texas—For prohibiting a church and its affiliated school from operating on their own property! When Cornerstone Church by the Bay requested permission from the town to use its own property to build a church and school, the Bayview Board of Aldermen said, "Bah, humbug!" to the request andunanimously voted to ban churches and schools in the area where Cornerstone's property sits—despite allowing other nonreligious non-residential uses! Fortunately, we're on the scene to enforce the law the town is violating.

4) Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), the ACLU and Kountze Independent School District (Texas)—For their attempt to censor private inspirational messages from cheerleaders. Looking for a simple way to encourage the football players at their games, the middle school and high school cheerleaders in Kountze, Texas, decided to paint Bible verses on the run-through banners. The girls used their own money to pay for the supplies and paint these messages on their own time to encourage their team. FFRF made the initial complaint about the banners, the ACLU is supporting the censorship with court filings, and the Kountze ISD continues to seek to control the private religious message of the cheerleaders as the case proceeds to the Texas Supreme Court.

5) The State of Georgia Department of Public Health—For firing a respected health executive because of what he said in his church. Dr. Eric Walsh was hired as the District Health Director in Georgia. But when state officials learned about Dr. Walsh's traditional, conventional religious beliefs, they combed through his sermons (he was an ordained lay minister in his church) and terminated him, leaving a voicemail in which they laughed about firing him.

6) Brawley Union School District in Brawley, California—For blacking out references to God from a salutatorian's graduation address. Don't say "God bless us, everyone!" if you're an exemplary student giving a graduation speech in this school district. High school officials censored salutatorian Brooks Hamby's simple references to God in his graduation speech three times. Then, they threatened to turn off his microphone if he dared read his speech with any inclusion of the Bible or his Christian faith. Brooks wouldn't back down, and filed a formal complaint.

7) Military Religious Freedom Foundation's Mikey Weinstein—For complaining to the U.S. Air Force Academy about a cadet writing a Bible verse on his personal dorm dry erase board. Weinstein, an attorney who has called for the court-martial of 400 Christian officers for sharing their faith, got into the middle of the "Whiteboard Controversy" by complaining when a cadet wrote Galatians 2:20 on his personal dry erase board—which was hanging on the cadet's dorm room door. The Air Force Academy persuaded the cadet to erase the Bible verse, calling the incident Weinstein notified them about, "a teachable moment." Thankfully the situation boomeranged into an education for the Air Force about religious freedom, but Weinstein still merits a visit from Jacob Marley and Friends.

The Constitution of the United States is
the Supreme Law of the United States of America

Note Well: It States ‘Freedom “OF” Religion’ ...Not ‘Freedom “FROM” Religion

The First Amendment is not only seasonal, but it's the guarantee of the "free exercise" of religion that our Founding Fathers intended for our great country all year long.

The battle to protect the expression of your faith—and the religious beliefs of people in our government, in schools, in workplaces, the military, public places and more—never takes a break for any holiday. And that's why we need the ongoing support of friends like you so that we can stand up to the Scrooges who want to stamp out religious liberty all year long. So thank you for your donation and your prayers today!

WALGREENS JUST FIRED THIS MAN BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO KILL BABIES

Informing and Equipping Americans Who Love Freedom

Thomas More Society Attorney: Termination Illegal
“Americans have the right to live according to their sincerely held religious beliefs, and not
be forced to participate in actions that they deeply and sincerely believe are morally wrong.”

B. Christopher Agee, The Western Center For Journalism — The pro-abortion movement has become so powerful in America that adherence to its murderous tenets is now apparently more important than the constitutionally guaranteed right to free religious exercise. This tragic point was illustrated in the recent termination of a Walgreens pharmacist whose Christian faith prevented him from distributing abortifacient drugs to pregnant women.

Hall, who entered the medical field with the intention of sustaining and improving life, found out last August that he was being fired for trying to do exactly that. Despite six years of stellar reviews from his employer, Walgreens suddenly demanded he violate his values and sell the Plan B abortion pill. The company reportedly severed ties with him after he pointed out the fact that his faith had been accommodated in the past regarding this particular drug.

Since 2007, Hall had been permitted to transfer such requests to another pharmacist. When the FDA removed the prescription mandate for Plan B last year, however, such concessions were no longer available; and he had to choose between his job and his faith. Despite the incredible financial hardship it caused, he chose the latter.

The Thomas More Society, along with attorney Larry Crain, is coming to his aid with a federal lawsuit aimed at rectifying this tragic situation. We are proud to join in the effort with a petition and Facebook page dedicated to reinstating Hall to a position for which he was unquestionably well-qualified.

“Americans have the right to live according to their sincerely held religious beliefs,” Crain explained, “and not be forced to participate in actions that they deeply and sincerely believe are morally wrong.”

According to the suit, Hall lost his health insurance and was forced to spend much of his retirement fund to survive three months between jobs. He was also reportedly denied unemployment benefits and was ultimately forced to accept a job with a 120-mile daily commute.

Thomas More Society attorney Jocelyn Floyd said Hall’s termination was illegal, “especially after six years of settled store practices showed that Walgreens could reasonably accommodate Dr. Hall’s religious beliefs with no difficulties.”

In support of Hall, and the beleaguered pro-life movement as a whole, you can voice your outrage and add your name to our petition by clicking here. You can join us in demanding Hall be reinstated – along with a formal apology – or send Walgreen’s a clear message that there are other pharmacies that would be happy to take your business.

We have also established a Facebook page that will provide updates in his appeal and allow users to express encouragement in their own words. Be sure to “like” the page below to receive the latest news. » Full Article

Guests: Brad Dacus, Evangelist Boyd Halford and Marv Munyon

Air Date: August 13, 2013

Show Description:
Brad Dacus is the president of the Pacific Justice Institute, an organization that defends religious freedom, parental rights and other civil liberties.

Boyd Halford is an evangelist in Kirksville, Missouri.

Marv Munyon is the president and founder of Wisconsin Capitol Watch, a public policy organization that promotes legislation in the state government and other policy making entities from a Judeo-Christian, pro-family perspective to protect the traditional family.

Brad discussed yesterdays decision by California Governor Jerry Brown to sign Assmebly Bill 1266 into law. This legislation takes effect January 1st in every school in the state of California.

So if one day a boy feels like he's a girl, he's allowed to use the girls restroom. That also means if a girl feels like she's a boy, she's allowed to use the boys restroom. This includes locker rooms, showers and gives boys access to participate in girls athletic activities as well.

Evangelist Boyd Halford joined Jim with news that the mayor and city council of Kirksville, Missouri, wanted to establish a nine member council plus a compliance officer to police the area against discrimination. The result has been the proposal of a human rights ordinance that seeks to end discrimination in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodation based upon sexual orientation and gender identity. Boyd indicated that the mayor is the person who can swing the vote.

According to Marv Munyon, Wisconsin State Representative Jeremy Thiesfelt of Fond du Lac is seeking co-sponsors to legislation that would allow people to opt out of Smart Meters. Smart Meters have the capability or can be programmed to transmit or receive information. The utility companies want to change to these meters so that they can obtain your utility consumption information without having to have a person walk around to read each one thereby saving the utility company and the consumer money.

The problem with these meters is that they are raising concerns in the areas of freedom and privacy.

This Crosstalk brought news of a proposed anti-discrimination ordinance in San Antonio, Texas, that could have someone removed from the city council, a board or commission if the individual expresses or demonstrates a bias by word or deed toward LGBT individuals.

This ordinance would also apply to anyone who does business with San Antonio and any disagreement because of traditional or biblical views would not be tolerated.

Liberty Institute sent a letter to the city council members and the mayor explaining the following:

(1)--Why this ordinance violates Texas state law.
(2)--That there should be a personal religious liberty exemption.
(3)--How the proposed ordinance violates the 1st Amendment and will therefore lead to litigation if it passes.

College Shuts Down Informal Dorm Room Bible Study

News From An Uncompromising Biblical Worldview

Jesus Speaking to His Followers...
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.. ~ John 15:18,19

Heather Clark, Christian News Network — (Winter Park, Florida) A college in Florida recently shut down an informal Bible study being held by several students in a dorm room.

According to reports, four students at Rollins College in Winter Park gathered together last week to read and study the Bible. However, when a hall assistant passed through the area and saw the students, they asked the person leading the study to step aside.

“He was told they were no longer allowed inside the dorm — even with the express consent of the students to do Bible studies,” InterVarsity’s national field director Greg Jao told reporter Todd Starnes. “They said it was because InterVarsity was no longer a registered student group on campus.”

“It was really sad,” one of the four stated. “One of the students in our group called it ‘frightening.’”

However, college officials state that there is misunderstanding over the matter, as no organization is permitted to meet in the commons area.

“No group is allowed to hold meetings in the common space of residence halls,” they explained. “A fraternity was recently in violation of this as well, and they were asked to meet elsewhere – so it was not just InterVarsity.”

But Jao said that students should be able to study the Bible together informally as the gathering was not an official InterVarsity event.

“We pointed out that Christian students holding a Bible study is a little bit different than a fraternity sponsoring a kegger in a dorm,” he said. “If students want to have a Bible study, they should be free to do so.”

Prior to the incident, InterVarsity had been de-recognized at the college after being told that it had violated the school’s non-discrimination policy because it required that its leaders be Christians.

“The nondiscrimination policy is turning into an exclusionary policy in their hands and we’re hoping the college will see the irony in what’s happening,” Jao stated.

The college states that the students have been given rights to use the chapel on campus, but InterVarsity says that because they have been re-recognized, they have uncertainties about whether they will really be allowed to meet there.

Other groups around the country have been facing similar challenges. As previously reported, a Christian club at the University of Michigan was recently ousted from campus for refusing to change its constitution, which requires that its leaders be Christians. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship states that it was informed by campus officials that its policies conflicted with the university’s policies, which prohibit discrimination.

Last year, numerous Christian groups at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee likewise faced opposition from administration for limiting its leadership to fellow Christians. Fifteen clubs lost recognition over their refusal to comply with the school’s all-comers policy.

“With decisions like this, it makes the claim that whatever group is being removed off campus isn’t worthy of having that voice,” a Rollins College student told reporters. “They are not valued by the college.” » Full Article
